You play Dort with Trent in the backcourt/second unit.

An extremely disruptive defensive combo. Dort can guard the 1, 2 and 3. He’s the exact opposite of McCollum.

Dort is a defensive specialist in the mold of an Andre Roberson.

Nas will have ample playing time next to SGA — he’s buried behind Jones/Trent/Hood for the foreseeable future.

It would be a win/win for both sides.

DJJ can defend guard 3-4 positions.

I'm thinking hold off on any trades until we see what we have. I still think ultimately CJ needs to go so Trent can start, but I want to see how the team comes together.

We don't need second unit defensive specialists, besides Melo and Kanter all our role players have defense. I'd rather have a forward prospect with two way potential like NAS.

Neither player likely matters this year as even if they traded for Dort now he's not going to learn the system and get playing time at 21 years old. Simons is on his 3rd year here and unclear if he will have a role. Maybe NAS could fill in a couple minutes here or there if there were multiple injuries he is at least familiar with the team.

An acquisition like Dort would be if we weren't trying to win but looking to develop young players for years from now. Dame is 30, we doesn't need 21 year old marginal prospects on the 15 man roster.

Neil made it pretty clear the team is not doing any roster transactions at this time.

yeah because they don’t wanna go into the tax. Don’t see how a trade would effect that unless they’re taking on money. Olshey has actually set himself up nicely for a trade should there be a need for one around the deadline.

Agreed, feels like there are pieces here that could help to facilitate a deadline deal if a good player became available. $$ to match deals in Hood, COvington, Jones. Young players in Zach, Trent, Simons, Little. Future picks is difficult, but possible with the right language.

Sure they could do a trade at the deadline if the rotation has room to improve. Right now there arent any known shortcomings. I was saying it sounds like the roster is set for the foreseeable future. I agree the team has tradeable pieces.

you want Nurk AND Sabonis? Hasn't Domantas shown he's strictly a Center?

Sabonis is a good player (although not his father) but does a Sabonis-Nurkic frontcourt work in today's NBA?

I don't think so, I don't think you're too successful with two purely post players anymore. Your 4 has to be an interior and perimeter defender. I don't see Sabonis having that kind of quickness. I do really like him but I like RoCo playing the 4 better. The thing is Sabonis is an offensive threat more than a defender and we have a great offense and hopefully just made our defense really good.

I really just want to see this squad get some run. I'm excited for the potential this roster with it's offense, defense, effort and athleticism can do. There are a lot of unknowns so if we're not living up to expectations around the trade deadline then I could see any number of moves but for now I don't see any... especially a move that pairs Sabonis with Nurk in the front court.

Not with this team. We need 3-and-D forwards, not a big who cant shoot 3s or defend on the perimeter.

Sabonis' passing would be less useful here considering he has the ball less and we have a good passing big already. Sabonis' passing also wouldnt help us with traps much.

Agree Sabonis doesn't make sense here with a DameCJ backcourt, or with Nurk, let alone both.

    Don't even think I want Harden for CJ straight up. Yes talent wise and accolades Harden is vastly superior. Four reasons;

First its soo horrible watching him play "basketball" or should I call it running into guys to bait refs for free throws.

Second he's a guy I just don't want to root for personally with him making it rain in strip clubs in Vegas, not the type of PR I want for my favorite team. Compare to Dame or CJ who are great off the court, Nurk is a funny likeable character.

Thirdly his beard. I don't fear it I just think it looks stupid.

Fourthly in the summer he would be on an expiring deal and we'd have to worry about trading him before he leaves for nothing.

Obviously Houston would want a huge package of picks or other assets besides just CJ. So I say fuck NO to Mr NO on acquiring Harden.

Most of your reasons have nothing to do with actual basketball. Harden would be a clear upgrade as he's one of the greatest offensive players to play the game. If he can be had for CJ and spare parts, you do it. Same with Paul George.

We'd have a real shot at being a championship team with Harden filling in for CJ at the 2 spot. I also believe Dame could get his focus right.

I’d do CJ, Collins, GTJ, 1st for him and I don’t even like Harden BUT...

    Dame
    Harden
    DJJ
    Covington
    Nurk

    Ant
    Hood
    Melo
    Giles
    Kanter
    Nas

    Is probably a 2 seed
