Not sure why it matters. They won't trade him for late firsts, that's bad business. Not worth it.

And btw the contract is not expensive at all. Actually it's a very good contract for the current cap.

But i don't like that CJ would be making the Fakers a lot better.

The Lakers are giving up too little here. A pick over 20 + Kuzma,KCP to get CJ. I think i would take Seth Curry over this...

I have them coming out ahead. 3 firsts, one with good upside for Hayward is a win for them. I dunno if that's the direction they want to go though.

Maybe I'm just too high on Kuzma, but wings that can:

    1.) Shoot
    2.) Defend
    3.) Play multiple positions
    4.) On reasonable contracts

Are not easy to find. You can slot him into any lineup and make it make sense.

No kidding. He can't do any of those things you say he does and is vastly overpaid. He's a salary filler-- that's it.

He averaged 6 points on 29% shooting in the playoffs this year and is on a 3 yr deal making 13-14 mil/yr.

He was their third best player on both ends for large parts of the year, even Lowe agreed. The foresight to predict how a player may function in another situation is something that Neil has desperately lacked. I won't continue to belabor the point. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

    Here's my best "realistic" plan.

    POR Gets: Pascal Siakam
PHI Gets: C.J. McCollum, Chris Boucher (absorbed w/ Horford TPE)
TOR Gets: Ben Simmons, 2022 POR 1st

I love that trade package for all teams involved.

Next, have Dame recruit Jerami Grant hard during the Olympics. If he is open to going to Portland, we could get him at a decent value due to his rapport with Detroit.

POR Gets: Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee
DET Gets: Derrick Jones Jr, Tristan Thompson, Aaron Nesmith, 2024 POR 1st, 2027 POR 1st, 45th Pick (BOS), 2022 BOS 2nd, 2024 BOS 2nd
    BOS Gets: Robert Covington

Then sign Nic Batum for the MLE

    Before Siakam returns from injury:
    Lillard (36) / Simons (12)
    Powell (30) / Simons (18)
    Batum (17) / Little (28) / Powell (3)
    Grant (35) / Batum (13)
    Nurkic (28) / Plumlee (20)

    After Siakam returns from injury
    Lillard (35) / Simons (13)
    Powell (32) / Simons (8) / Batum (8)
    Grant (16) / Little (19) / Batum (13)
    Siakam (32) / Grant (16)
    Nurkic (28) / Plumlee (20)

I really like the idea of a Dame / Batum / Grant / Siakam / Nurkic lineup. Tons of size, playmaking, and defense in that unit.

That rotation would be phenomenal. Hope we see something like this happen.

My new favorite idea will be hated by most in here but first we trade CJ and as many picks/swaps as Philly wants for Simmons. Then we trade Nurk for... Kyle Kuzma. I think Kuzma could be great coming off the bench at both forward positions and when he does Simmons could move up to the 5 defensively. Also along with every time I pitch trading for Simmons, I would use the taxpayer MLE on Bobby Portis so he could come in and start at center for us. It would be imperative to re-sign Norm. We would need to get a legit big guy on the vet min but that could be Drummond.

The fact is a rotation of Dame, Norm, RoCo, Simmons, Portis, Kuzma, Ant, Nas and DJ would be really scary for any team. The defense that group would bring would be fantastic and there is enough scoring to stay in the upper echelon of offenses in the league.

Fingers crossed. I think this is Portland's most realistic path to contention, as I think all other teams involved are getting players that fit and that they'd want. Any team that values Covington could replace Boston in the 2nd trade where they'd send Detroit young players and/or picks. Dame would be happy with Plumlee coming back and we'd have four two-way playmaking frontcourt players (Nurkic, Siakam, Plumlee, Batum).

...it looks pretty good -- but I have to ask about the "rapport with Detroit". Is there more to his one single season in Detroit? :dunno:

It's kinda hard to explain but it's a situation where the front office won't trade Jerami Grant unless he's open to it due to the reasons he signed there in the first place.

This was the reaction I figured but when you look at what that guy's potential is, he's a good get IMO.
