I'd do CJ for Turner and TJ Warren. Take a chance on Warren coming back from injury well. If not, then it would take 14M off next year's cap

I still don't see why Indy would do that trade. I think Turner is a better player than CJ...but it sounds, a little, like they want to dump him

Much like with CJ here with Dame, Turner is not a fit with Sabonis in Indy. Both are good players, but limited in their ceiling given who else they take the floor with.

    Another Idea from Bleacher Report.

Boston Celtics Receive: CJ McCollum, Ben McLemore

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Juan Hernangomez, Romeo Langford, Josh Richardson, Robert Williams III

Would allow us to do another deal with Nurk? I don't know enough on the Boston guys to know if it really helps us as much as Bleacher Report makes it sound like.

I'd love that or a Turner and Levert. I've seen a lot of fans sour on LeVert for much the same reason many of us have on CJ. Not that I want to bring in another chucker, but it's a lot easier to bring someone else's chucker off the bench, and so having him in the Clarkson, Lou Williams, etc. role as bench gunner maybe makes it so when Dame leaves the floor, we dont immediately fall apart and can't score.
Or, if it was Warren, for them, it's basically a straight Turner for CJ swap, since he hasn't played all year. I think Brogdon is a good fit alongside CJ, as a bigger point guard. And allows them to have Duarte in for now, a more preferred bench role.
    Here's hoping!

I looked at LeVert but he makes 5M more than Warren so I figured the tax implications might make the Blazers balk. I'd be OK with him as well if Seattle didn't veto the trade because of money. Jeremy Lamb makes 2M less than Warren and 7M less than LeVert

by the way, I don't know if this is true:

maybe he will come back although a foot injury that takes that long to heal is a big red flag. He hasn't played in a year

Yeah, I thought about that with the tax. Lamb makes the most sense, as he'd be out of their rotation with CJ there, but that would then push THEM in to the tax. They're about 1.4 million below the tax line.
If you throw in Snell on our end, and Torrey Craig on their end, they get out of Craig's deal next season, and only take on an extra "edit" 125K, keeping them under the tax still.

RWIII is ideal. But Boston would not have any rim protection at all. Freedom doesn't contribute much on that end of the floor.

Just here to say Caris Levert is not the kinda ball stopping non shooter we need. Below average defender, not a three point threat, and largely useless off the ball. He's dollar store Derozan.

There’s a reason why Indy has Levert on the block so quickly….

we have no use for taking 14 mil off the cap next year. that's $ we can't use since we're so far ahead already. getting under the tax gets us the non tp MLE, which is about the best we can do.

and the FA market is dry as is. no need for capspace.

I wasn't thinking about cap-space as much as was thinking about the tax line and possibly being hard capped. Right now Portland has 111M in guaranteed salary and dead cap. And that's only for 6 players. They'd have to add 8 players and only have a margin of around 25M under the tax line to do so; and 31M under the apron. If they want to work a S&T for Nurkic or RoCo that extra 14M in margin under the apron could be important

I feel like CJ, RoCo, Ant, and some picks could be turned into Turner and Grant. You pretty much have to trade Nurk then though and not sure what u get back? First rounder and expiring?

    Dame/DSJ
    Powell/McLemore
    Nas
    Grant/Nance
    Turner/Zeller

I mean it’s top 8 in the west I guess, not chip level though.

Yes there is a reason and it's not because he is a bad player. Together with Sabonis and Turner they are their best trade assets.

I don't think we will get Simmons or Turner. I don't think Simmons get traded until this summer and I don't think Pritchard will trade with us. But both players would be great additions to this team if some how it's happens.

The Atlanta deal I like I like Reddish since watching him in college and Bog I like him when played for the Kings but to make that trade to happen we might be the team giving up a 1st rounder due to Atlanta wants a first for Reddish.
