If we're looking at teams who would want to move out of the draft, I think POR is prolly highest on the list. Rest of the teams seem like their need for a young player matches their timeline on the grand scheme. I'd keep an eye on Philly, though. They have 6 picks.

I think two things will happen

We will trade the 24th pick for a vet.

We will buy a second rounder.

The TPE will probably be used after the draft, but I’d love it if we used it to add another first.

The timing on this will be extremely tricky given our luxury tax implications and impending Nurk extension.

How so? The timing of one really doesn't affect the other.

I was thinking if we use it before July 1, we'd be in the tax this year, making us a repeat offender next year. It's not really likely that we do use it before July 1, but still there could be an instance where we do. Remember the CP to HOU move last year where he was actually traded to the Rockets in June.

So, anyone have any interest in #30 and #34 for #24?

    Or maybe for #26 + #38?

Tax was calculated as of the last day of the regular season. Nothing we do this month affects our taxpayer status for 2017-18 or the clock on eventually attaining repeater status.

Possible TPE targets. Some of these aren’t likely, I just wanted to compile a list of players that could be of some interest to Portland.

    Vonleh TPE

    Kelly Oubre (+ 24)
    Justise Winslow (+ 24)
    Buddy Hield (+ 24)
    Caris LaVert (+ 24)
    Denzel Valentine (+ 24)
    Reggie Bullock
    Stanley Johnson
    Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot
    Richaun Holmes
    Malik Beasley
    Sam Dekker
    Troy Daniels

    Crabbe TPE

Brandon Ingram (this would obviously include picks and would only be an option if LA lands Lebron/PG,etc. and other shittier teams could offer better picks)
    Bogdan Bogdanovic (+ our pick)
    Courtney Lee
    Jeremy Lin
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
    Jeremy Lamb
    Jordan Clarkson
    Dion Waiters
    Tony Snell
    Terrence Ross
    Jonathan Simmons
    Markieff Morris
    Eric Gordon
    Milos Teodosic
    Garrett Temple
    Patty Mills
    Alec Burks
    Danny Green

Contracts that fit Crabbe TPE that teams could dump with a pick attached

    Kenneth Faried
    Matthew Dellavedova
    John Henson
    Jerryd Bayless
    Marcin Gortat
    Boban Marjanovic
    Solomon Hill

It's very unlikely they take Doncic at 2.

    They'll take MPJ or Bagley.

It's going to be fun to see who takes the chance on MPJ. Any whisper of even a hang nail is making teams nervous.

Kings may have promised Michael Porter Jr. at #2.

His medicals came back better than expected. He'll go to Sacremento at 2, or Memphis at 4.

I am pretty sure they will take Doncic. I think it’s all crap talk about them wanting to pass on him.

They won’t take him at 2, that would be extremely dumb. He hasn’t even released his medical record to them. If they still want him they can move back and get additional assets, nobody will take him until no. 5 anyway and I actually think Bulls are the earliest he can go.

Who's your source? I'm sharing actual information I've heard. It's not speculation.

Apparently MPJs medicals came back better than expected. That's why he cancelled his workout a couple days ago.

Memphis would take him at #4.

Just reading the boards and podcasts. I don’t have actual information from insiders of course.

I kind of root for Kings to do the right thing. I want them to improve and end their playoffs drought, taking anyone but Doncic at 2 will just put them in even more misery going forward.

Taking Porter (barely played last year, doesn’t have a huge ceiling anyway and has health issues) or Bagley (whose style of play is outdated and has so many flaws on the defensive end) would be such a typical thing for them to do though. I will be incredibly disappointed if that happens.

Atlanta will 100% take Doncic if he’s available though.

No they wont. Atlanta values Trae Young and Jaren Jackson over Doncic. Doncic could fall to the 6-8 range.

Why are teams so dumb? If Porter and Young go ahead of Doncic that’s extreme stupidity level. I am registered on one Kings board and they are flabbergasted with the idea of taking Porter at no. 2. It’s basically like they don’t know they moved up to 2 instead of staying at 8.

Trae Young vs Luka Doncic isn’t even funny. I won’t diss Jaren Jackson though, he will be legit.

Doncic might be too slow man. Doncic could bust, and have the same issues Lonzo has had. Lonzos a good defender though, which Doncic won't be.
