So, he has made *one* in season deal that actually helped the team. Way to go Neil! :smiley-oscar::party:

Okay, sorry I just saw it as a 2 for 1. So why does Sacramento do it then?

I'm only on the 1st one and WTF! Why would we give up a 1st round pick for that and why would the Lakers give up an unprotected future pick? MAYYYYYYYYBE if it was Turner instead of Harkless if the only goal was to get under the tax line again.

The 2nd one isn't terrible if we were a piece away from winning a title which we obviously aren't. I'm not sure why we'd have to give up a future 2nd and Trent. The only two good things about this trade is it frees up two roster spots and we get Biggie off the books next year.

The 3rd one is kind of like the other two combined. I don't know if Bradley makes us that much better and we'd be giving up a 1st. I'd rather take back a similar bad contract (like Miles Plumlee) instead of giving up a 1st. Bradley can't be traded until January 15th anyway. Something like:

    LAC gets Lin
    Por gets Bradley and Plumlee
Atl gets Harkless, Leonard, and Trent

Honest question, why are people so protective of 1st round picks? If it's not in the top 12 or so the chances are you aren't getting much. Even a top 12 pick could turn out to not be much... If you can do something "useful" with a pick I don't understand why keeping it is a big deal. Sure you can get lucky once in a while I guess.

Because giving up a 1st round pick in a salary dump trade is not useful for two reasons:

    1) Portland would still be well above the salary cap.

    2) Even if it did generate future cap space, the chances that cap space are used on someone that is better than even a low 1st round pick are most likely slim.

I understand those things, I just find it odd how protective people are of our annual 20th pick in the draft, that turns out to be a borderline nba player...
I'd attach like the next 12 first round picks (hyperbole) to get rid of ET tomorrow...

If management really felt that way about ET too, wouldn't it be better to simply waive him and eat his salary next year while keeping our picks? I don't want to do that because then we can't trade his contract next year but I'd rather do that than give up picks.

Unfortunately management is more like lets keep building around ET that seems good...

No matter how slim there are players drafted after pick 20 in every single draft that turn out to be good players. When you have a pick at least you have a chance to land someone meaningful. If you trade it away you have no chance.

Also, I believe in two things regarding draft picks:

    1) No matter how good or bad your team is I think it's important to always develop young talent.

    2) Making good draft picks improves your treasure chest of trade assets either by trading those guys or making other players moveable.

Grizzlies just got Oubre for nothing.

    Thanks Neil!

First day of possible trades for many players. Who is the first to get moved?

You’re right, I should have known Woj was going to report something false. You got me.

Guessing some version of the trade will go through, they’re in too deep. I’m wondering whether or not Washington will scramble to dump Oubre somewhere else. We could absorb him without sending salary back. Don’t know if a couple seconds would be enough though. Maybe throw in Trent or Layman? Lol just kidding I know Olshey isn’t bothered.

Yay, ESPN is updated and all eligible players can now be included in fake trades!
