Saw a Magic fan suggest this elsewhere(without the Brown and Cannady inclusions. I put them in because without them, the deal was 99K off from working) Bulls pick is protected top 4 this season:

yeah....I actually think Hart, as a player, is worth a lot more than that, and that Portland probably shouldn't move him unless they can get a better player than comes back in this trade

neither Okoro or Osman has shown much, but both have tradable contracts. Rubio is a good floor general but he can't shoot. And Lopez is kind of the opposite of what I'd want as a 3rd C

I figured it out, Hart and Nurk for Allen and Mobley. I mean the trade makes perfect sense. It balances our roster, makes us contenders now and in the future, and at the same time completely fucks them and makes them obsolete again, the way the Cavs without LeBron are supposed to be.

Agreed. I struggle to see a deal for Hart where we actually get back what he's "worth" to us, but feel like it's one of those moves where, IF he's likely to leave, take what you can get. Okoro has shown little, but he just turned 22 two days ago, so is still super young. There's talent there. So it's more of a flyer on a super young kid to see if he can compete with Nas for sf minutes. He looks the part. Now whether the basketball side of it can ever come around...

That Magic fan is obviously very sure that Suggs is a bust and also really high on Ant's value. I wish the Magic's front office would call ours with that deal because we would pull the trigger in a heartbeat. We could then just figure out something with the Bulls that guarantees that we have a pick this year (like just trading them their pick for ours) and we could then make a godfather offer on a superstar with Nurk, Hart and as many as four first rounders and three swaps.

Regarding my above post... I hope that what Joe might end up doing is trading Hart to a contender that wants him for a guaranteed 2023 first rounder and contracts they don't want. Then Joe would have our entire arsenal of picks to make a godfather offer on a superstar.

Edit: Rumor has it that the Heat are really into Hart. So Duncan Robinson and their first rounder this season, unprotected for Josh and Justise.

That Robinson contract should take a 1st on it's own to get rid of. So we're then giving them Hart for free.

OK, then 2 firsts... I'm sure if there is ongoing talks between the two teams that would be what they are negotiating.

Sorry but why??? Are you just saying that as a doom and gloom Blazers fan?

I'm not saying I'd go bet the house on it if someone were taking an abstract bet like that because there are a lot of moving parts but that definitely would be the smartest way Cronin gets Dame a second superstar to play with. So what keeps it from happening?

It's unprotected in 2026. So Hart and Justise for Robinson their 2023 pick unprotected and their 2028 first with whatever protections negotiated.

As for wanting a guaranteed 1st rounder, this was an issue that came up last deadline, where everyone was pissed about the Clippers deal, that we should have gotten a 1st, etc., without looking at where draft picks around the league are currently sitting.
Looking at contenders, Boston doesn't have their 1st round pick this year, Brooklyn owes a 2024 1st, so can't outright trade this year, Cleveland owes theirs to Indiana, Dallas owes theirs to NY, Denver owes theirs to Charlotte, GS owes a '24 pick, so can't move this one, Clippers owe their '24 pick, Lakers don't have their pick, Milwaukee doesn't have their pick, Minnesota doesn't, Philly doesn't, Sacramento owes a '24 pick.
So out of playoff teams, you're left with Memphis, New Orleans, New York, Phoenix. So if it's a '23 pick from a contender you're after, I'd start there.

And then ask why Miami would hamstring thir available tradeable picks until 2030 for Josh Hart? these sorts of things, IMO, is often why this place melts down obnoxiously over the trade deadline. Is Hart worth 2 unprotected picks? No chance. Yes one is for taking on Robinsons, but I doubt Miami values dumping his deal at the cost of a pick. But if our expectations are these, versus something like Okoro and Rubio, then fans will yell at Cronin that he sold low on an expiring glue guy.

Hart and Nurkic for Mobley and Allen?

Come on now. That makes zero sense for the Cavs. Their big man tandem is part of what makes them so good. It would be a big down grade with their bigs and Hart is a good hustle player but just slightly above average player really.

Mobley has the potential to be a superstar.

I don't need to start anywhere. Joe does, if that is his plan. I was just stating that there have been reports that the Heat want Josh. If they want him bad enough and want to get rid of Robinson bad enough, then they would give us their 2023 pick unprotected to make that exchange happen... maybe along with another pick... just a thought, nothing I'm able to actually pursue.

Oh, I misread which post of mine you were responding to. I thought you were talking about my idea to trade Josh for another team's unprotected 2023 first, so we could put a godfather offer together and actually get Dame a second superstar to play with.

If you re-read the Hart and Nurk for Mobley and Allen "idea" I was obviously just kidding. I said we would do it because it would make us contenders and that they would do it because it completely fucks them over blah blah blah... just a joke.

I'm just happy we signed a few specialists in player evaluation ..I trust Joe's front office staff to make an impactful move...this will be their first real chance at taking a swing since Joe hired them.

How does Portland ensure CHI gets the 2023 FRP? i. e. How to change the restrictions on a pick after the deal is made? Doing so apparently enables POR to include other FRPS in a big trade. Does CHI have to give something back? Very puzzled.
