I’m gonna be so pissed if we move Sharpe in some Hail Mary trade Joe tries to spin as a major needle mover but only gets us as far as a first round exit. It will be O’Neal Part 2.

Chicago would be giving something back (as required by the CBA), their hold on future Blazer picks past 2023. Portland can not lift the protections unilaterally, they'd have to send something of value to the the Bulls. Maybe a future 2nd; maybe cash. Chicago doesn't have to accept...they could hold out for more and hold Portland hostage to the trade deadline

I really doubt that will happen. He didn't trade the pick before the draft, so why would he do it now after actually seeing him play?

Thanks a million. That makes sense. CHI knows it has POR over a barrel and may not play nice.

Shae is going to be a lot better than Jermaine was. I know that sounds like a bold prediction but Shae is extremely talented. I still think his floor is perennial all star and his ceiling is multi-time MVP.

People keep saying that he's the most talented guy that we've drafted since Dame and I don't think that comes close to covering it... he might not have the intangibles Dame does and maybe never will but as far as talent is concerned he's the most talented player we've drafted since Clyde (with the exception of Oden who I try to forget).

That would be a good question for some reporter to ask Joe Cronin, but they never do of course.

That's almost never a wise move, as far as Chicago being given a better situation (a protected pick to an unprotected one, while we're on the outside looking into the play-ins) and demanding a bunch in return. A lot of front offices would see that as acting in bad faith. There is a lot of politics in NBA upper management and it's not very smart to burn people in an obvious way.

I would honestly expect them to accept cash. Any time a team is asking for a protection to be removed the team letting them remove it knows the team asking to remove the protection is doing it to make a trade they want but I've never seen any team get more than one second rounder for it and usually not even that.

Why would they? That shit is in the CBA and protections have been removed in the past, so there is precedence for how it works. The reporter would look like an unprepared fool. That is unless they phrased it as an assumption that they were verifying... which again kind of seems pointless and would make the reporter look like someone who's just not willing to do their homework.

From the Grant thread, with the Portland "rumors" of
Who are some bigs with athleticism that could be attainable? A few I'll throw out, without any deals attached:
    Kai Jones
    Mo Bamba
    Nerlens Noel
    Jericho Sims
    Zach Collins
    James Wiseman
    Jaxson Hayes

My fear is that now that the league has seen him play whoever Joe really wants for the win now move will finesse Joe out of Sharpe because of his desperation. Hope I’m wrong.

Jaxon Hayes would be nice w/0 the domestic abuse issue. He fits the team's needs. But he would probably be more expensive without it.

That is a bold prediction. I need to see gradual improvement in his game in year 2, massive improvements in year 3. Unless, he can really straighten out his handle I don’t think he’ll ever be elite.

His handle isn't bad at all, it's actually pretty slick, he just makes a lot of unforced errors and mistakes that you should expect from a 19 year old. It's not like when he puts the ball on the floor I feel the same as I did when Aminu would. The dude can handle the rock but obviously has to get better in a lot of areas.

It's actually one reason I want both Ant and Hart moved. I would like to see Shaedon start for a little while and if he ends up being too bad at this point, I think that's fine and we can start Nas or GP2 but I think if Chauncey told Shae that he was the starter it would infuse this kid with a massive amount of confidence and you'd see him making more assertive moves and hesitancy is the biggest problem I've seen with his handle and his shot (he short arms shots a lot because you can tell he's too in his head about if he should be taking them or not).

This would be my ideal trade deadline. Let's just say that Chicago demanded the second round pick that we have coming to us in 2024 that is the better of the Hornets' or Wolves' in order to remove the protection from our 2023 pick that we owe them. The protection on our 2027 FRP going to the Raptors is top 10 and if it doesn't convey they get both our second rounder in 2027 and the Pelicans. I'd be willing to do swaps in 2024 and 2026 with the Raptors if that were necessary.

Our new rotation would be: Dame, Shae, Jerami, Pascal, Mo, GP2, Nas, Suggs, Drewbanks and Koloko but that might not be our actual rotation because we would have one roster spot that needs to be filled and two that could be filled. We would be far enough under the lux tax to pick up two vet min guys off of the buyout market and until the buyouts would likely sign someone out there to a 10 day contract once or twice.

We already missed out on Hachimura. I’m not sure anything can be salvaged at the deadline.

We could’ve had Hachi for Watford and future 2nd’s!!

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. B/R said we are making our entire roster available to upgrade this team around Dame but want to keep Jerami and Shae. If we want we have our 2025, '27 and '29 FRPs available just by calling Chicago and either paying them some cash or sending them a second rounder.

So I don't think all is lost because we didn't trade for Rui. I'm really hoping Joe is trying to catch a much bigger fish than that.
