No offense to Murphy, but I don't see him as that much of an upgrade over what we got from the 4 spot last year; we need an enforcer, not another guy who can pop from the outside and provide adequate board work. I'd like to do a more simple deal than a big one involving TJ and Murphy, something more along the lines of Magloire for Pietrus and a 1st rounder or something [IMG]

In that case Foyle and Pietrus for Magloire sounds good. [IMG]

No, the Bucks don't get enough there --

I have a better idea that will wet the Bucks' whistle --

Fisher, Foyle, Dunleavy, and Murphy for Magloire.

None taken for Murphy. Murphy is just a solid role player that will score a little and rebound and make a hustle play occasionally. He's a terrible defensive player, much worse than Jrich. I think Warriors fans tend to kiss his butt because typically a Warriors big man is a mediocre talent or a guy that is just plain inconsistent. So with Dunleavy, Fisher, Foyle just sucking so much arse, Murphy is appreciated as a starter. But then thinking about his defense... he can really kill the defensive game as a team when a starting five of Fisher/Jrich/Dunleavy/Ike/Foyle was actually successful as a defensive unit (because they would cover for each other on help D). Murphy just causes a lot of other guys to get into foul trouble in a team defense setting. Murphy working hard on Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitzki is nice to see, but I don't see really see him challenging Tony Parker or Ginobilli on a layup or dunk attempt.

That's too bad, I really like TJ Ford. Pietrus + first rounder for Magloire... How about throw in the draft rights to <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="Black">Ersan Ilyasova? [IMG] I mean c'mon Magloire is solid, but dang he's not really a perennial all-star. Plus, he turns the ball over like mad whenever he tries to create something. He's a pretty weak shotblocking PF/C too. I guess we need somebody Dampier-like... sure.

Would anybody be up for Baron/Murphy/Taft for J.O./Stephen Jackson?

    C: J.O./Foyle
    PF: Ike/Biedrins
    SF: Stephen Jackson/Mike Dunleavy Jr.
    SG: Jason Richardson/Draft
    PG: Monta Ellis/Derek Fisher

I've got a feeling this lineup would not pass the ball, and it would make our bench lack some punch, but talk about potent. I know some like Taft, but what if he's no better than Chris Wilcox or Nene? We could sign a free agent shooting guard or just draft one. Maybe Brandon Roy or Ronnie Brewer or Richard Roby. Of course I'm sure Indiana fans would absolutely crap on this trade because it means rebuilding mode for the Pacers. Murphy and Baron aren't expiring contracts though...

I don't like Stephen Jackson. I don't know him personally, but, to me, his behavior during the Ron Artest - Pistons brawl is enough to deter me from wanting to acquire him. He was just looking for a fight, tearing of his shirt and "raising up" to throw down. It looked rediculous and was an embarassment to the NBA.

    How about Murphy/Pietrus/Pick for JO?

    Or Murphy/Dunleavy/Pietrus for JO?

    Or Foyle/Fisher/Murphy/Dunleavy/Cheaney/Taft for JO?

I do believe that Mullin is trying to get JO from Indy but I highly doubt that JO or KG for that matter will be dealt this summer. What would Indianna's motivation for trading JO be? Because he had one injury riddled season? Even if they do ship him off they've still got alot of big contracts holding them back from being able to really rebuild and they'd be better off rebuilding around JO than anything they get back for him. Mullin is probably only allowed to negotiate because hes close with Iny's front office people from his time spent there as a player. If we get JO we'll have to give up J-Rich, Indianna wouldnt accept anything less. Just look at what they got for Artest, an all-star espiring contract and no one said they'd get an all-star back. They know how to negotiate.

Magloire is the best big man we can get this off season. A defensive minded center may be more effective but there arent a whole lot of those available and it sounds like Magloire is officially gone from Milwaukee. I'd like to get him, his value is at an all-time low from poor performances against the Pistons and average scoring and rebounding numbers over the entire season. Hes not a great shot blocker but hes a space eater and he'll be an enforcer in the paint. With Baron he can easily get up to 12-16 ppg and his usual 10 rebounds.

    I've always wanted this guy:

    http://www.nba.com/draft2004/profiles/PavelPodkolzine.html

I was hoping we would have drafted him in 2004, but we took Biedrins instead, which turned out good.

But man, Pavel is 7'5," can shoot, pass, is legitimately big. I know there's been some questions about his health and obviously Dallas hasn't played him, but C'Mon he's 7'5" 260lbs.

I'd love to find a way to move Foyle or Fisher. And I'd love to find a way to get one of the following players:

    Zaza Pachulia
    Jamall Magloire
    Pavel
    Joel Pryzbilla
    Robert Swift
    Primoz Brezec
    DeSagana Diop
    David Harrison
    Eddy Curry

If we could find a way to move Foyle or Fisher in a deal that gets one of these guys, man that'd be sweet

Yeah Pavel is still 21 too. The other player I had interest in from that draft is Peter John Ramos. Peter John Ramos is also only 21.
    http://www.nba.com/draft2004/profiles/Peter%20JohnRamos.html
    http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/peter_ramos/index.html
Here are Pavel's D-league stats. I believe his block stats are dissapointing.
    http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/pave...zine/index.html
Then there is the Baby Shaq http://www.euroleague.net/plantillas/jugador.jsp?id=JXX

I'd really be interested in trading Zarko and this years first round pick for Peter John Ramos, though I doubt the Wizards are looking to deal Ramos right now. I like his potential.

We'll need to find something good we can saddle Foyle and Fisher on.

Like, for instance, trade Monta Ellis to a team on the condition they also take Derek Fisher.

However, I wouldn't think of trading Monta Ellis right now, even if it meant cutting the excess baggage.

So, I figure Pietrus and Murphy are our 2 most moveable pieces. How about:

Milwaukee probably turns it down because they would kill their cap sending out all those expiring contracts and getting back long-term deals of overpaid players.

This works in the trade machine, but we could throw in Taft or a draft pick to sweeten it up:

The Bulls could use a high-energy athlete to complement Nocioni, Heinrich and Gordon. Deng is high energy but he's not a 3. Pietrus would be a great prospect for them at that position, and he'd be perfect for Skiles in that he plays tough defense.

Piatkowski we could just let walk. I don't know how attached they are to Chandler, but we could throw in Taft or Zarko and it still works. This might be a reach but hey! what the heck

Houston has shown interest in Fisher. We could try to trade him straight up for David Wesley and then let Wesley Walk. This would give us the $ to sign Pietrus at the 3.

a great trade that works in the trade checker is murphy and fisher for Carlos Boozer....

i agree houston would be a good place to move fisher but i would imagine we would have to take Alston back in the deal. Houston might be interested in Foyle if Mutumbo is retiring as well.

For some reason, folks tend to forget some key stuff...

1 Our coach is a turkey and we can't be hasty about writing off players because they followed bad instructions. A system that's a handicap puts players in situations where they can't be very effective.

2 Magliore is not cheap NOW..and in a year goes to the high bidder or a legit contender. He is a fairly average C,maybe about even with Biedrens now. Taft may even catch up. Mags was under 10 ppg..some "force in the paint" can't defend a quick player well, not much of a passer and limited shooting range. Giving much for a one year rental is a step back.

Murphy,it seems,is not lazy, dumb, unwilling to learn and adapt. He's not a slow klutz. THEREFORE,a GOOD coach can improve his d,even turn him into a C not unlike Brad Miller,Okur,Brezac, etc.

The 9th pick in the draft is an asset. We can't afford the luxury of tossing it about as minor stuff. Again,Mags is only an expiring. I would not give Sheldon Williams (a possible #9) for Magliore....IF Magliore was signed, and a keeper.

A CENTER committee of Biedrens,Sheldon Williams,Murphy and Taft would give us a lot of usable options.

Would giving Murphy and Pietrus for a one-year rental of Magloire really be a step back though? We drop one of our large contract players and both have become expendable because of Monta/Ike. Mags doubles Foyle's averages in scoring and rebounding, and I'd bet his scoring will go up significantly with Baron. Just having a center who is a threat to score inside and a big body would make a big difference for our team. Magloire isn't going to be a go-to scorer hell hes probably not as good as Ike is right now but we don't need another 20 ppg scorer. He's a space eater who can finish inside which is a desparate need in the statrting frontcourt. By the team he leaves I think Andris will be ready to take over starting center and we drop 9 mil from our cap.

Right now Magloire's value is at an all-time low. Milwaukee's GM just said that Bogut will be their C next year and they want a PF to spread the floor, Murphy fits in pretty well. I'd gladly trade Murphy's 5 more seasons of 14/10 on 43% shooting for Magloire's 1 season of 10/10 on 48% shooting. Any combination of Ike, Andris, or Taft will be ready to start by 07-08.

    Excellent points throughout, BJM.

Part of getting Magloire is that we can shed a long term deal in the process. This step is crucial if we are going to find a way to sign Biedrins, Monta Ellis and/or Ike Diogu. At least one of these players will be worth paying, and GS will need the $ to do so. We have to shed a fat contract. Murphy, Foyle, Fisher, and even Dun. I will take Biedrins over Foyle in a heartbeat. I will take Monta over FIsher in a heartbeat. I imagine Ike will be worth more than Troy in a few years, simply because he does what a true 4 should do, instead of trying crossovers and jumpshots.

There's no way I'd trade a prospect or draft pick for Magloire. But I'd be tempted to toss one in if it meant we could dump Fisher, Foyle, and/or Murphy.

Mags (ex teammate of Baron in NO) is big inside and would provide the toughness that we don't get from the soft Murphy/Foyle tandem. And he can finish when it's dumped off to him. Foyle can't. Foyle probably cost Baron 40 assists last year in bobbles alone. Mags will finish alot more of those.

And then, in a year, heck let him walk. Pay Biedrins instead. No harm done -- we cleared up cap space to sign one of our young guys. That's the whole point, IMO.
