Pirates acquire Corey Dickerson from The Rays for Daniel Hudson, Minor League Inf Tristan Gray, and Cash as per MLB Trade Rumors.
Mess, I gotta believe the same thing...no way we can open the season with 13 infielders and outfielders...depending on whether they will carry 2 or 3 catchers that would only leave 9-10 spots left for pitchers...most MLB teams have either 12 or 13 pitchers on their rosters. ... Cashman simply must find a way to jettison at least 1 of either Ellsbury, Gardner, or Frazier. If they trade Ellsbury or Gardner they'll lower their payroll at least another $10 Mil...(I'm assuming the Yanx would have to eat at least 1/2 of Ellsbury's salary...and Gardner is due a minimum of $13.5 Mil over the next 2 years with the 2nd year being an team option/buyout) From there the Yanx can either make another big move before opening day or they can see how they stand at the trade deadline and make a move accordingly.
I see the Tiggers are going to be content with another sub-par team and year; again...! My buddy John's rolling in his grave, can hear him moaning all the way from Detroit.... "you corksucking fargin bastages- content with a shitty team- ye' fkng Ilitch's"...
Go back to '16, what did the Yankees have in ST? Mercenaries and aging Prima Donnas. Fast forward to now, yep we've seen signings and additions that have created team competition. Gotta earn your way on to this team. This team is flat out stacked to the point that its has solved the "what ifs" pretty well position player wise.
I think we're going to see the continuous flow of traffic back and forth, with numerous players, for the minors to the Bronx, back to the minors, back to the Bronx etcetera etcetera.... No different than what the Bums did a few years ago, with 9 second baseman 6 shortstops and a constant flow back and forth to the minors, to Chavez Ravine etc etc. At least the Yanks have Depth now, like they've never had before, that's a good thing....
Near the end of todays Yankees/Boston Game, the NESN Crew mentioned that the Yankees were trying to work a trade that would send Ellsbury to Arizona. They did say in addition that Ellsbury is perceived as no higher than a 5th outfielder. Don't know where they got their information from but it would be nice to see Ellbury go elsewhere.
Not sure if this has been posted or not; http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...-lind-minor-league-contract-article-1.3874004
^^^^ I was unaware of this, and thanks.... I can not recall a time in Yanx History when the Team seemed as deep in talent, stacked in all positions, imo. Or perhaps old timers is creeping in, cuz I can't recall such a time. Ntm- having a majority of Infielders capable of playing multiple INF positions...
