The Yankees have acquired Minor League RHP Luis Gil from The Twins in exchange for OF Jake Cave as per Buster Olney.
Interesting move, but not so when you've got zero space for an OF'r. Bat-Cave had an impressive yr offensively with S/W-Barre last season. A small sample, and I only got to see him trying to mash 'em in but one game this year; hell I'm not even sure how many Yanx ST games he played in, ab's, stats. Luis Angel Gil hasn't played one game in the Twins or any other Minor League system. Only 19 yrs old, (will be 20 in June) has only played in 015, and 017 in the Dominican Summer Leagues (DOSL). His stats look like he was a Reliever at age 17 in 015-DOSL with Zero gms as a SP. His stats at age 17 aren't worth looking at, only 23.1 IP, 26 BB's, a 1-2 record; sounds like he couldn't hold the fort; and with a 4.63 Era, 2 bombs, 15 Hits, yada yada. I haven't found shit on why he didn't play in 016, Injury- I'd wager** for DOSL players.???? ** still looking online for reason why 017- converted to a SP. This I don't get: 14 Game Starts, with a 2.59 Era, but only 41.2 IP, sounds like a Reliever starting a game; and pulled before he could do any damage??? Or, maybe he's just starting to give the real starter more time to warm up; in the DOSL it may of been the real SP needed more time to find a glove that fit him, (more truth than not), or a pair of socks & cleats that were a match. He did get some control, with 20 BB's in 017, vs 26 in 015; with approx double IP's, with a mega decline in BB's. But, non of this is telling me shit.... Sounds like a major work in progress- even the great Jim Thorpe Won 2 Gold Medals wearing mismatched socks and cleats. No shit.
Per River Ave Blues: and noted by Erik Boland of/@NewsdaySports as told to him by A. Boone, post game -** - "Tyler Wade is going to be on the Team," O.D. 25 Man Roster - Dingleberry will not be ready come Opening Day; (oblique). - The Braves have returned Rule 5 Draft pick Anyelo Gomez to the Yankees; assinged to Minor Lg Camp. ** https://twitter.com/eboland11
Alex can afford to eat Corn On t/Cobb now- No known relations to Tyrus Raymond Cobb....?? Or any relation to Trumpets Lawyer Ty Cobb....?? Ty Cobb, the one player who played the game with a ferocity un-equalled by any/ever. So feroce a player, he made Charlie Hustle look like a Girl Scout running the bases***.... *** source of data: From what I've read, and from what our old board member Rick often spoke of claiming to of seen Ty Cobb, Ruth, Matthewson, Wee Willie et al, back in the daze..
Yankees have acquired INF/OF L.J. Mazzilli from the Mets in exchange for Kendall Coleman as per Jon Heyman.
I would think if the Yanx knew of Drury's medical migraines, they'd not of signed him. I wonder IF they knew, and if they didn't and the condition was hidden, then I'd think such would be grounds to terminate his contract... C'mon Andujar, now is your chance to shine like never before.... ntm- Torres hit his first downtowner this weekend in S/W-Barre... Gleyber (tho' a very small sample size) is hitting .333 Not saying he'd fare any better in the Bronx, but I'm anxious to see both Andujar and Torres kick some major butt in YS....
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...rury-long-history-migraines-article-1.3920581 and for some double denial/talk https://nypost.com/2018/04/07/brandon-drury-comes-clean-about-scary-issue-hes-been-hiding/ General manager Brian Cashman told The Post the Yankees knew nothing about Drury’s blurred vision prior to Friday night’s game against the Orioles. On the medical records they received from the Diamondbacks prior to trading for Drury on Feb. 20 in a three-team deal that also included the Rays, there was a notation of a migraine from 2016. He took an MRI then that came back clean. At the end of the Yankees’ series in Toronto last week, Drury reported a migraine to the trainers and was given Excedrin. Drury told the Yankees after the game he has battled with these symptoms for six years. Cashman said Drury will get “an entire assessment” on Monday — and beyond, if necessary — at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
"The Nationals’ 25-year-old outfielder will, barring the unforeseen, become baseball’s highest paid player ever, likely drawing a contract worth close to half a billion dollars during the free agency season of 2019, and **he will play wherever he wants". Yeah Right, **as if 2/3rd of Teams are going to even think of ponying up that much $$$ my ass....The typical Bor-ass client; hope he gets the same treatment as Moustakis, another Bor-ass client... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...riguez-has-been-there/?utm_term=.9cf9c9f2e32a
