Maybe but he's not going to sandbag it, so we should keep him as long as we need him.

Indy is interesting, but I can’t think of a good trade because I don’t see any players of interest to us. Walker is off the board. The trade would have to include a third team that is contending who would want McConnell or Hield.

What if we traded Grant to Indy for McConnell, Hield, and a ‘24 1st, description below:

(least / less favorable of OKC's 2024 1st round pick, the LAC' 2024 1st round pick, HOU's 2024 1st round pick protected for selections 1-4 and UTA's 2024 1st round pick protected for selections 1-10 (via LAC, HOU and UTA to OKC to IND) [LAC-OKC, 7/10/2019; HOU-OKC, 7/16/2019; OKC-UTA, 7/30/2021; OKC-UTA, 1/4/2022; DEN-IND-LAL-OKC, 6/23/2023]) (someone needs to explain this to me)

Now we’re looking at Brogdon, Hield, and McConnell to trade out before the deadline. Brogdon and McConnell will both hot commodities and Hield is a valuable shooter. Got any ideas of where to go from here?

I'm not hell meant to trade Grant this season, especially for a 2024 pick. Portland will have their own good pick which is likely enough. Plus, I don't want to start any of Walker/Murray this season. Don't see starter in either of them. Yes, trade him at end of season if a good deal materializes. Indy has been trying to dump Heild/McConnell and no takers. I'd stay away as Portland would be bag holders there.

Here are the teams that I think could use Grant.

    Miami
    Nets
    Cavs
    Bulls
    Warriors
    Grizz
    Kings

I like the Nets or Cavs.

How could the Warriors ever afford Grant on their payroll?

Bulls: PWill is off to a horrible start. It is early still but if you aren't thrilled with getting him then I don't like the trade.
Nets: I don't see why Brooklyn would do it.
Cavs: Not thrilled with the return

Our best bet, which is a long shot, is waiting for a contender at the deadline who is desperate for what Grant offers. (Maybe a team that is hit with a big injury?)

But for me, the problem with trading Grant is that I want a talented young forward back in return, not another draft pick. And who would trade us a good young talent who plays the same position? That narrows down the teams IMO

Nets would possibly do it as Cam is often hurt. I would like Cam Johnson but not sure how much of an upgrade he's be as a Blazer? Grants a decent defender and I guess you could say the say about CJ.

Nesmith on the Pacers is really good, but probably not a good fit with us.

Cam Johnson is only 2 years younger than Jerami.

I agree with this but I also think we could use high experience low usage vets of some sort, I like Grant but I think with his payday and no clear leader on the team hes taking a lot more shots and being asked to do a lot more than i think most here would like. I like brogdon too, but with the log jam at the guard spot I'd rather have Ant's floor spacing than brogdon's defense with the team that we currently have. If Ant could eventually be sold on coming off the bench that would be ideal, but chauncey is going to have to make that decision when he gets back, maybe its a easier sell with him coming back from an injury. I also think there is more of a market for brogdon at this point than Ant, but I would be open to trading ant if there was a good trade. I would also trade matisse, Love the guy and his attitude but he feels pretty un-needed at this point and id rather give minutes to camara, walker, shae at that spot anyways.

The real question is who would actually be interested in either Grant, Brogdon or matisse who have assets that we would want, most competing teams dont have assets we want and most non competing probably dont want/need them.... admittedly I dont know other teams rosters that well so maybe theres something out there that makes sense for everyone but seems like most of the ideas are somewhat lackluster, either in terms of draft compensation and or blue chip young players of need. Cronin is going to have his work cut out for him if he is to actually move these guys and go forward with the more youngins.

Yep, that is the question. And I doubt it stops us all from spending most of the next 3 months talking about trading them all without actually coming up with a
legitimate answer to that question. Although I am guessing a few will just say dump them for an expiring contract and draft picks. (which is not the answer either IMO)

Chauncey and Brogdan are pretty tight from what Ive read. He was last years 6th moty too.
Once Scoot & Simons are back he’ll come off the bench probably.

But then what about Shae? Push him to SF?

Probably and play him behind Simons and Scoot.

One would imagine that Ant would come off the bench when he comes back, at least long enough to test his thumb on his shooting hand.

I do not think so. As last night showed, we need someone that can hit a basket consistently. When Ant is ready, there should not be minutes restrictions. He is either ready or not and should be played as much as possible.

Yeah, but coming off the bench does not mean he won't get his 30 minutes. Nor would it mean he would not finish games. I say ease him back slowly. He will miss another 14-15 games at least so we will see how things are by the time he gets back.

Whether Scoot/Ant return tomorrow or not (I know Ant isn't), Brogdon needs to slow his role. He called his own number too many times and also kept running ISO's for Grant. Mays needs to know his role too. Nobody pays to watch him miss so many shots. Walker had absolutely nothing going. Quit throwing bricks. How about getting the ball to the one athlete out there, Sharpe. Set screens and see if he can get going. Damn, it was awful. There has to be accountability for such a poor performance.
