The only elite players who would be traded are ones who are not wanted by their team, or on a team that wants to tear down and rebuild. Or a player who's part of a glut on the team. Or to get under the LT. Three guys who come to mind are Love (not wanted?), Blake Griffin (rumored on the block), and Okafor. I'd go for Okafor. I think our weakest position is PF or C.
It sucks because I would love to keep Crabbe, but he's making too much money to be a backup. It would be absurd to keep him at that price. So either we trade CJ and start Crabbe, or we trade Crabbe for a player at a position of need.
Butler would be their backup SG and Gay can play 3 or 4. Rondo (34) / Grant? (14) Wade (33) / Butler (15) Butler (20) / Gay (18) / McDermott (10) Portis (18) / Gibson (20) / Gay (10) Lopez (22) / Plumlee (22) / Gibson (4) The minutes work well, and they have a lot more depth and balance. There's no way the Kings would trade Gay for Gibson.
What's with those of you who want Kevin Love, he doesn't want to play for his home town, so why trade for him?
Because we need a big man that can defend and play off of our guards, not a C that always needs the ball so he can do his pretty little in-and-out spin move.
The only assets we could trade now are Plumlee, Davis and Aminu. Players we have re-signed can only be traded at the end of year and trading CJ would weaken the team way too much. Out of those three players I can only see Plumlee traded before the season starts, if we get a good offer. It'll have to be a team who will want to resign him at a big contract next Summer too. Davis and Aminu are our only options at 4. If we wait until late December then there will be some nice packages we could make. Crabbe + Harkless/Aminu + Leonard would not quite land us Cousins under normal circumstances but it would still be a good offer. The issue is there aren't that many players I would see here that could improve the team significantly and would also be available. We'd mostly be looking for PF and Millsap would be perfection but he's likely off the market.
I think Blake is the likely target, and the most likely to be moved by his team. Comes with the big risk of him walking after the season. But I think clippers prefer their team without him, and are more apt to go for above average role players to fill in (aminu, Davis, plumlee, harkless, etc. )
I honestly can't see us making a lopsided trade unless it includes with CJ. The problem is we have a lot rotation playears but at high contracts. So do a lot of teams. A situation like Griffin might be ideal because he's at odds with the organization. But I'd still think they'd want a player of high value.
I was pretty busy today (I was out helping a trapper try to capture a problem coyote) and only skimmed over RC2. I skipped over this thread all day because I thought it said Trade Whitsitt and thought it was a zombie bump.
Love has said he would like to play for portland someday. He said portland is always where his heart will be. http://www.oregonlive.com/nba/index.ssf/2014/11/as_trail_blazers_host_star-stu.html
Does Cleveland want to get rid of Love? Maybe we could do Davis, Aminu, and Vonleh for Love. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6712771
If cleveland would have lost, i think they would have been open to dealing love. No chance now that they won the finals. Maybe next year
