While the Warriors might have had an interest in Swift a few months ago, they shouldn't anymore. Biedrins is supposed to be the same type of player as Swift except he's a couple inches taller (and thus more likely to make an eventual move to center) and there's never been any questions about his heart and work ethic the way their has with Swift. As for Battier, I still don't understand why Warrior fans would want him. He's a good player, but the Warriors already have Richardson, Pietrus, and Dunleavy at the sg/sf. They should only create a log jam if the player they're acquiring does something that no one else on the team can do. Battier isn't that player, in fact he's the exact opposite. He's a guy that does most things well, but nothing great. The Warriors don't need that. As for Walker being a first option, that was something I threw out there. Now I think there will be less problems in the locker room if he's eventually starting, but if he'd agree to come off the bench, great. But if he didn't want to come off the bench in Dallas, I don't see why he'd agree to do it here. I do think Walker is a much better player than he showed in Dallas (though I've never been a big fan of his). I think he'd fit in fine if Mullin and Montgomery laid the smack down on him early on and said that he wouldn't be allowed to be a gunner the way he was in Boston.

Even if its Posey, you have the same basic sf/sg problem. Now Poesey is a terrific defender, but so is Pietrus. In fact I look at Posey and Pietrus as almost the same player (though Pietrus is a year or two behind him). As for Walker, I'm not a big fan. But I do like to bring in players when their stock is down and right now Walker's stock is about as low as its going to get. He was never a good fit in Dallas, they would have been fine with Jamison or Walker, but not both. My hope in getting him is that after years of having the green light to take 25-30 shots a game and then only getting 13-14 shots in Dallas, he's learned some better shot selection. The other thing is that Walker would be in a contract year following a down year. He'd be out to prove to the rest of the league that he's still a top tier player. To me, all those things add up to a break out season for Walker. Not one where he is out to put up individual numbers, because everyone knows he can do that, but one where he can show the league that he can be a leader. The Warriors will also have Uncle Cliffy to keep him in line. Speaking of Cliff, no I don't think there would be a log jam at sf/pf. If they got Walker they probably wouldn't resign Cardinal. Robinson would probably move to center full time because they'd be losing Damp and Foyle. That's the one bad thing about this trade, if Murphy, Biedrins, and/or Podkolzine don't develop quickly, the Warriors could be hurting in the middle.
