The truth is that I don't think any pick until the 2030 pick should be listed as an asset due to the fact that they can't be traded. Supposedly Joe has a way to satisfy our obligation to the Bulls but he hasn't shown a willingness to. So my list is...

    Sharpe
    Scoot
    Deni
    Clingan
    Jerami
    Ant
    Ayton
    Tou
    2030 FRP
    2031 FRP
    Tisse
    Rob
    Rupert
    Bari
    Murray
I personally think all of those assets have positive value. I think to the right team the players listed after the picks could fetch second rounders but I don't think we'd have to pay to get off of any of our contracts.

I can see your take on omitting the 2025 and 2026 FRP's, but I am 99.9% sure Portland is making the 2025 selection, and more than 95% sure they are making the 2026 pick. And anything Portland might be offered for either should most likely be rejected as Scoot/Shae are a couple drafts or so away from being serious playoff contributors. Same goes for Clingan. I think Advija could be a good player on a playoff team right now. I would only entertain a player like Banchero for 2025 or 2026 picks, and Orlando is not ever offering that so mute point. All that said, come on, 2025 and 2026 are Portlands most valuable assets interspersed with Shae and Clingan for sure, and I add Scoot as fifth or sixth until he has a great season this one and proves he was worthy of that third pick last year. Advija is high on the list of valuable assets too. Adding him and Clingan both hugely improved Portlands under 25 y/o talent pool and will have another in the next draft.

As an asset, today they just don't have value because the team cannot trade them until our season is over and we have missed the playoffs. So for me on this day, I cannot list them as assets. I don't know what Scoot or Shaedon will play like this season, I don't know what the addition of Clingan will do to the team. I don't know how long we'll have Ant or Jerami.

I'm also fairly certain we will retain our first round pick in the upcoming draft but I'm nowhere close to 99.9% sure and I'm probably not sure at all that we'll miss the 2026 playoffs. That's a long ass time away. We don't know what moves might be made between now and then or how well any of our young guys will be playing, let alone another group of rookies from the 2025 draft. Too many moving pieces to have 95% certainty... good fucking grief. Definitely higher than a 50% chance that we miss the next two playoffs but I'm not sure how much higher. Regardless all FRPs 2025-2028 are Schrödinger's assets, they may or may not exist.

The Spurs should get Huerter. SAC is definitely in win now. If it falls through, Grant is a good option for them.

DeMar's contract is expired. This was it:

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/6327/demar-derozan

The proposed sign and trade has Barnes and Huerter going out of Sac that's almost 35M in salary. Derozan is going to turn 35 next month and Jerami turned 30 in March.

You think the Blazers can get in when Joe is probably just sitting on his hands?

It has happened but with SL starting late next week in Vegas I think we'll see a lot of deals go down then. Reportedly every GM in the league is in Vegas during SL. So maybe Joe and Rob Pelinka get together and figure this Jerami trade out and maybe a GM that we haven't though of comes up to Joe and makes an offer for one of our other vets and a deal seemingly comes out of nowhere.

I hate to say this but Lakers are now really the only team that could use Grant and now I would say neither the Blazers OR Lakers have much of a upper hand so unless Grant gets moved in the next handful of days I would say that Grant will be a Blazer when training camp opens. This kind of sucks but for once this is not Cronin's fault he played his hand the right way and so far the cards did not fall his way sometimes that shit happens.

We don't need to trade Grant right away,

He wanna be in a contender, play well and be wanted by others enough to give up value for him. Jerami still has all the incentive to play well.

He does not have to be but i think it would make the rotation and touches for other players better IF he was traded but I do give Cronin points for not rushing a trade when he could have so I will give him that one.

Kings get Derozan and keep Heurter and his shooting. Pretty great way to get better.

The pressure is on the Lakers just to keep up. I think a Grant deal gets done early in Summer League.

DeRozan is a recent All-Star, he plays the entire season. Cronin can't have All-Stars, or the Blazers would get massive fines for benching starters and throwing games. The extra 10m salary for Jerami helps Portland draft better rookies. It's not easy finding highly talented players that are totally cool with quitting their season early.

DeRozan can’t shoot and he doesn’t play defense.
