Jerami only makes sense to them if they're going for the championship. Should Bron and/or AD get injured (God forbid) and their already low chance of contending goes to the drain, they will regret trading for Jerami, let alone overpay to do so. It's best to wait until the Olympics are over.

I don't think Ayton takes minutes away from Clingan. Not for a while anyways. 24-28 minutes per game keeps the big guys fresh.

No one is taking away minutes from Deni
No one is taking minutes away from Shae.
Scoot will still get at least 28 minutes a game

I am ok with trading Grant, but the only prospects he will take minutes away from are Camara, Walker, and Murray. Is that really an issue? Regardless I am ok with getting a couple of picks and getting his contract off the books.

In early August, Rui + Gabe Vincent + Knecht + unprotected 1st rounder = Grant + Reath
[Someone else on this board or on realgm proposed this.][I would add-in a pick swap for Portland. Maybe Matisse for better size with Vanderbilt.].

It does fit both teams, IMHO. I hope a trade gets done.

Walk me through your minute estimation with our current depth chart. I don't see the kinda minutes you are for Shae/Scoot/Deni/Toumani.

And there are not 20+ minutes for Clingan if both Ayton and Rob Williams are available

I highly doubt the Lakers would postpone a trade just for gaining the chance to backout if LBJ/AD gets an Olympics injury.

Highly unlikely they do get injured as USA players play very few minutes. The regular season is still many months later so nearly all injuries would be healed. Finally the Lakers have other roster moves to make so delaying a Grant trade could harm their ability to fill out depth.

If both sides want Knecht in the trade that's would be a reason it gets delayed, when he signed in the last week he cannot be traded for 30 days.

Are you looking at game 1 or minutes over 82 games of the season?

Ayton and especially Timelord have a track record of missing major games every season.
Timelord can slide to the 4 some of the time and even when healthy plays few minutes.

We've had tons of starting minutes for all sorts of G League scrubs the last 3 years. There's plenty of minutes for all these guys over the seasons with the shit talent on our roster.

If your focused on Clingan getting 25+ mpg every game of the season starting in game 1 maybe it's an issue. I don't see why that should be a focus though: we have plenty of time to ease Clingan into minutes and a role, the guy is a 20 year old rookie.

    Center
First off I am not trading Ayton just because Williams might take minutes from Clingan.
Let's see if RW3 can stay healthy first. That is a big IF

Backcourt if all are healthy. (Which recent history tells us won't happen)

    Shae: 34
    Simons: 32
    Scoot 30

Rupert and Banton will have to wait for injuries or mop-up duty. I would trade Thybulle...... so Rupert would get those minutes.

    Forwards:
    Deni 32-
    Grant 32-
    Camara 32

As you can see it is Walker and Muray who would suffer from Grant being on the team.
    But not Deni or Camara

I still think that this upcoming week with all of the GMs together will make some stuff happen and I think by the end of SL we could very easily see both Jerami and Ant moved. Things are different face to face than they are on the phone, especially when you can pull other GMs aside and see how much they could add to the deal as a third team.

10-20+ years ago yes this used to be a thing.... Now it's all assistant GM doing the actual phone calls then each team goes back and discusses as a group. So no I don't think GMs being together in Vegas really matters.

I've been at summer league even last year, it's now a much larger event with tons of fans and media all over the place. Not a great venue for confidential trade talks.

This is a good breakdown. You make a fair assumption of positional flexibility, something I haven't considered.

Maybe people like Stein and Windhorst are too steeped in that older style of thinking but last season they said this in relation to the Dame situation.

Last year during SL seven different trades were made involving 13 teams, 11 players and more draft picks than I care to count.

I don’t think Camara gets those minutes. Walker proved late last year his rebounding and scoring were better. I like Camara and think he has more upside but for now think those minutes go to Walker or get split with Walker and Camara

    Spurs trade confirmed.

They turned their capspace into a pick swap that holds potentially massive value. Unprotected pick swap with SAC in 2031.

This is the sorta thing we coulda done had we cleared out our vets for space instead of letting them rot on the bench while tanking.
