Chandler fits our team so much more than rolo. He's older sute, but come on... It's not close

There's no way to know until Payton and Malone play for the Lakers.

Barnes is a better defender then Batum? You could MAYBE make an argument for that 5 years ago, you can't now. Tyson is injury prone and if Lopez plays like he did at the end of the season and doesn't ever get back to how he played last year and the beginning of this year then a healthy Tyson would be better. Tyson isn't a better fit offensively, just because he likes to dunk doesn't mean he is better offensively then someone else. Deandre Jordan can dunk but he isn't as good offensively as Lopez. Lopez has a decent shot to about the FT line, Chandler doesn't.

It does NOT make sense to trade Batum for a draft pick this year. Go down the line - none of the top 8 want Batum, and I don't want to trade Batum for any player taken out of the top 8. My "dream" of Batum for Winslow isn't happening.

We don't need Lopez shooting jumpers. I'd take Tyson chandlers dunks, toughness and superior defense over a center with a better jumpshot

In the first half of the season, Lopez was a surprisingly good opportunistic shooter. They almost always went in from about 10 feet.

I'm so relieved, Someone in this forum knows that none of the top 8 teams want Batum.

I would think with their goals of adding more experience over more youth, Orlando, Sacramento, and Detroit would all be interested in Batum.
That doesn't say they'd trade a pick straight across for him, but I imagine all would have some interest. Especially Detroit.

Aren't those actually the bottom 8 teams?

So if Detroit is a candidate, and we were losing LMA, would a sign and trade for Monroe save us any cap space to go after another FA? Or would it just be better to try to sign Monroe and move Batum separately?

It'd work out the same way. If Aldridge walks, we could sign Monroe outright, and choose to move batum elsewhere. Or can sign and trade. Or keep him.

Chandler only works if LMA stays, if not then no need for an aging older C and even then his injury history is worrisome, I like Koufus for a cheaper alternative

I agree with that. it's just funny some people think Lopez is a better fit style wise than Chandler.

You would have to over pay Chandler to come here. So the better question is how much better is he than Rolo? Considering he has already played 13 years in the league. IMO regardless of which center we have we will have to platoon him with someone else. So the money could be an issue.

I really don't see him coming here. He likes Dallas and didn't want to leave the first time.

Dallas is rumored to be going hard for deandre.

Stotts was an assistant coach on the championship Dallas team. that could be a draw.

I saw that rumor and I think in that scenario Chandler would be going to the Clippers in a sign and trade.
That way they both go home

Really how so? Rolo is criminally underrated by some here, Chandler is better but not by has much as your making it out to be and has had injury problems his whole career and is 32 and has slowed down.
If this was Chandler from 4 years ago then yea it wouldnt be close but how long before the wheels fall off and he slows down considerably.
If LMA does the two year deal with opt out id go for Chandler and go as far as we can go otherwise Id sign Rolo to a 4 year deal instead.

Sacramento considers Gay as one of their cornerstones. Even though S2 thinks Batum can "slide over to the 2", it's not obvious other teams would be willing to risk this.

Orlando is at least a year away from trying to get a vet bump.

Detroit has pick #8. If Winslow somehow drops to #8, do they really want Batum instead? If Winslow doesn't drop, is there anyone we'd want at #8?

If the Blazers want to target Winslow multiple trades probably would happen. Not just one. Neil did say that the Blazers would plan to be very active in this years draft.

Maybe Hezonja, Stanley Johnson, Devin Booker, Sam Dekker. Those guys certainly aren't on Batum's level but the 10 million in cap savings may be able to ease the pain.
