I haven't ever really been as concerned as others about the SF spot. I think he may be a few years away as a complete player, but Nic is our future at SF. I've always been more concerned about PG, which obviously, we addressed this offseason. I'm curious what was available in the realm of PGs around the deadline.
Bingo! Not trading Raef's contract stings. I like Miller but Raef's insured/expiring contract was a gold mine. Consolidating is something KP must do. I'd be down for a Battier for Outlaw/Webster deal, or something along those lines.
Tough question. I wanted to add a vet at the deadline, and I still think we would have done better in the play-offs if we had done so. The obvious catch, is that I (like most everybody else) wanted the "right" player. Since we may have wound up with the "right" player anyway, and I firmly believe Batum has a bright future, I'm not crying in my beer over it. I guess my answer to the poll is "none of the above". If we had a chance at a high caliber PG, particularly one younger than Miller, then I am very PO'ed. If it was a SF, I only really care if it was somebody like Butler or Wallace.
I really wanted Wallace or Butler...heck I would have settled for Jefferson! But if it's an either or proposition between the above and Andre Miller...I'd think twice but would still want Wallace or Butler. There are only so many opportunities to add young studs like them.
No. The goal is a championship, isn't it? Nobody remembers who tied for third, or even who took second.
Amen. I seem to recall that Gerald Wallace was available (though supposedly Nic was the sticking point from Charlotte's end) and I certainly thought Jefferson might be a reasonable use of RLEC with a consolidation trade (Blake and Outlaw or somesuch) to acquire a guy like Miller would have seemed like a decent use of assets. A lot of people still don't want to hear it, but this team still desperately needs some kind of consolidation trade, otherwise we're probably going to see Travis wasted as an asset this year -- he's either going to see a dip in his statistical output which will depress his trade value or he's likely to demand more money than the team would be willing to pay when his contract expires next July and he's going to walk for nothing.
