Roku is really just a platform. You have to subscribe to services.

Sling TV is a decent service.
    Also Hehestreams is good

Hulu is fine. Their options with sport packages are a bit pricey IMO.

Depends upon what content you want. We use the base package for Hulu & Peacock. We use the free PBS & other channels.

If you're looking for something similar to the traditional cable package, then Sling TV is a good option.

The only channels we really need is the main local channels and then any basic sports channel. Maybe MSNBC as well. TNT, TBS, etc. every body else in the house just watches Netflix

that's a game changer, but it's essentially $30/month only for Root. Their lineup is pretty paltry outside of that so you'd still need sling at another 35 to get ESPN/TNT.

Still a pretty hefty cost only to catch bball games live, but it's a start.

i've got a slightly cheaper option that worked this whole season quite well.

Nord VPN for $60 for the year + League Pass India for ~$2/month. So I was able to watch every game including playoffs and around $7/month with 0 blackout restrictions. Hooked my comp up to my TV and it's been seamless. Probably the best LP experience I've had in a decade.

I did it for a month last season, but once it was obvious last season was going to be shitty, I cancelled it. Once the season starts up again (I've given up on YTTV getting Root), I'll look into it again.

How did you get league pass india for 2 bucks??

Using a VPN like that is violating terms of the agreement. Might as well just steal the game with free streams?

What's the process for signing up for League Pass India? Get an India IP address using NordVPN then look for League Pass India? Is there any catch like needing to have an address in India or and Indian credit card?
Do you need to use the VPN all the time? With the USA subscription I only need to use the VPN when watching Blazer games in the Portland area.
    Does it include NBA TV?
Is the quality any different than a USA subscription?

You can get NordVPN for $3.29 a month in a 2-year subscription right now, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Just make sure if you sign up you don't get any unnecessary add-ons like NordPass (unless you want them).

i just log onto nord on my Macbook and connect to India. Open up a browser and sign up on NBA.com as usual. No need for an indian address or cc. my card actually charged me a currency transaction fee for about 15 cents every month, but that's avoidable with most other cards.

i only use the VPN during game time.

it includes literally every game for every team, no stupid blackouts.

same quality, just lags a few seconds, which I'm OK with. Also don't have any ads playing during timeouts, you just get the in-arena feed.

Again it's sorta YMMV when they shut it down, so I went with the monthly option. there's enough gray area around the TOS to deem legality but really I have no qualms about it given how much I've paid for LP in previous years only to miss half the games due to ridiculous rules. I've read that some people with other VPN services had trouble, but Nord is constantly a step ahead and i had no issues so far (knock on wood).

If anyone wants to sign up for (USA) NBA League Pass now, it's $14.99 a month and includes NBA TV, which is was not included when I signed up monthly last fall. I would make sure it continues to include NBA TV once the season starts again.
NBA League Pass never includes *live* national broadcasts like TNT and ESPN, but you can watch those games 3 hours after the game has ended. And watch all games for the season which are easily accessed using a calendar.
If you're not using a VPN , blacked out games can be watched 3 days after they were played.
