You know, it's really simple. Refer to people in the way they wish to be referred to. Call people what they wish to be called. That used to be good manners, but some time in the 1990s good manners got transformed into "political correctness" and was something to avoid. Exemplary behavior was use as many insults as you could, preferabley at the top of your lungs. I still don't understand why.
I agree it is the most economic. As to whether is it the wisest is subject to debate. As I mentioned, the problem being, there are a LOT of parents that feel that their child's right to privacy in the restroom is violated when all the restrooms are made unisex. Most school districts need the voters to pass a construction bond in order to fund the design and construction of new schools. If the voters are angry that the building that they agreed to fund has restrooms that (in their minds) violate their kids' right to privacy...they get pissed off. When they get pissed off, they tell the school district to bugger off when they try to pass the next bond to continue to replace their old buildings. That's not in the interest of the kids, as many of our buildings are over 60 years old, and at the end of their life. And, it's not in the interest of the district. Old buildings are expensive to operate, and don't provide great places to teach kids. I talked with a transgender person (she works for the district) about the different approaches, and she recommended that we provide additional one-stall restrooms, and make them available to anyone that wanted to use them. The extra restrooms cost about $300K, on a $22M building. It wouldn't be that big of a hit, except construction costs have been going through the roof here, and we have already had to value engineer (<--truly a joke of a term) over $6M out of the project to stay within budget. I'm not completely convinced that this is going to work well, but she (and many of the schools admins) do not believe that all unisex restrooms will be well received by the parents/voters. The school board wants to do what's best for kids, but they don't want to make the parents angry, either. I guess we'll find out. Go Blazers
I did not even see that anything was edited. Just thought you were being random for no particular reason.
Bless your heart, color me ignorant is a turn of phrase, not a request, but it is a shame I missed your artwork, I bet it was magical.
What is this preoccupation with who pees where? Women use ladies' room, men use mens' room, regardless of what you were born. I don't know about you but I don't look around to view the genitals of the lady in the next stall, or check for surgical scars, or run DNA tests to see if she was born female. Maybe what goes on in the mens' room is different, I wouldn't know.
I don't see the big deal either all public bathrooms are generally disgusting, I would prefer not to share a bathroom with women because I find menstruation disgusting. Then again there are some things men do in the restroom which rivals the grossness of women. So change the bathrooms keep them the same it really doesn't matter to me.
You're a trip, and if you must compare me to cheese I am 1/4th Scottish, 1/4th German and 1/2 Italian.
How would you know if a woman is menstruating? She does not change her pad/tampon in a public area, she goes into a stall. And that of course has nothing to do with transgender.
Checking dorm bathrooms was a responsibility I had as a RA in college and women were disgusting, leaving worn tampons everywhere etc. It was gross.
But I do believe that he has had experience cleaning bathrooms though.... I used to rehab my fathers rentals when I was a kid, I have to admit that some of the gals were exactly that way... they would fling shit under counters..in drawers..yech..
Crap! It had faded from memory, and you jerk it back! I use to rehab few repos' in San Jose. One I bought was really disgusting, several holes kicked in the sheet rock, stove full of ewe! One hole in the dry wall in the bathroom was partly filled with tampons. Not sure if that was the one that did it but I gave that venture up, ugh! Weird! LJ is the only poster I understood in the thread.
