David Lee got more votes than Chris Andersen. That in itself is enough to tell me what kind of a farce this voting is. And, the hell is Kome a first-teamer. He takes plays (hell, make that quarters) off on a nightly basis.
I am a big Outlaw supporter and even I was surprised to see him get a vote. Especially after Brandon only got one vote. Another surprise was Batum did not get a vote.
After he was drafted, some experts believed Oden would be inducted into the Hall of Fame after his rookie season. How many Hall of Fame votes did Oden receive?
Thank god. You have to be crazy to run for the house. It was supposed to be a good humored jab at Eric. If he objects - I will retract - but I did not get a vibe from him that he can not make fun of himself.
Fair enough. Eric - if this was too hard - please tell me. I thought it was in good fun. Someone called me a dumb ass on this forum yesterday - and I did not get upset - because I did not think it was malicious - but your point is well taken. A problem of the medium, I suppose - if I said something like that in a pub to Eric - I am sure he would have known I am just having fun - it is hard to convey the manner you say things on the internet.
If Outlaw got a vote for DF player of year, then Bayless should have gotten a vote for 6th man of the year.
Outlaw isn't the worst defender on the team but he certainly doesn't deserve any recognition for his defense.
Did you also believe that Swirsky's Bargnani-over-Roy for R.O.Y. was a more prescient and reasoned vote than the hordes on the board? He worked in the league also. I'd submit that some people on here are more connected and more basketball-savvy than many people in the league or NBA writers. I'm not one of them, though you better believe I know more about the Blazers than, say, JA Adande does. And he gets paid for it.
He wasn't a head coach in the league at the time of his vote. Read up on who actually voted for the All-defensive teams, then get back to me.
You didn't say coaches, you said "somebody in the League". I don't care about this vote, I care about your broad generalization that if someone "works in the league" they know more and are better able to assign value to players than the "hordes on boards like this". I brought up Swirsky b/c it was a vote by someone who worked in the league for a post-season award, who I don't believe got it right or knows any more about the players on my team and their relative worth vis-a-vis another player than I do. And I'm not even propping myself up as one "in the know". I don't need your condescension, PapaG. But my question still stands--do you also believe that Swirsky's Bargnani-over-Roy for R.O.Y. was a more prescient and reasoned vote than the hordes on the board?
