Steve Kyler: Thompson is still considered a free agent and could seek an Offer sheet from Philly or Portland who have salary cap cash. – via Twitter stevekylerNBA Here we go
We would rather see him be an unrestricted free agent next summer. Even if we have no interest in actually signing him it's another name in the market and may draw interest from teams were competing with to sign other players.
Okay, we can get James Jones then if that is what we are looking for. James has even more playoff experience.
Unless he signs a one year deal with Cleveland--which is unlikely--he won't be a UFA next summer. Even if he sits out the entire year, he'll just resume RFA status.
Now do it per million in salary using the contract Davis got from us, and the contract Thompson expects. We REALLY come out ahead then!
Irrelevant. But, he does have 3 solid years playing for a lottery team, and they won the lottery 2 of those 3 years. So, that could come in handy. BNM

Yeah, Tristan Thompson. He can rebound,he can guard his man most of the time and he knows how to demand a lot of money. Did i miss any of his other qualities?
A lot of playoff experience and has played with the best player in the NBA. We'll see if he can get a ring.
