Rockets record looks good, but we've been really beating up on the bad teams. We'll have a stretch coming up where we face some really tough competition. Without Yao, I'll be very happy if we can just play .500.

Eastern Conference

Western Conference

The New Jersey Nets are in a really bad spot in the East. They have already played 21 home games and are just 11-10 in those games. The Nets will have to make up those home losses on the road. 9 of their next 12 games are on the road against, a majority of which are against Western Conference teams.

Upcoming games include:

January 11th @ CHI
January 13th @ MIN
January 15th IND
January 17th @ CHA
January 19th @ NY
January 20th ORL
January 22nd @ SAC
January 24th @ GSW
January 25th @ LAC
January 27th @ DEN
January 29th @ UTAH
January 31st DET

I don't trust the ranking for Utah, personally. Based on point-differential, they're about a 48 win team. They've benefitted from winning a lot of close games, and that tends to even out as the season progresses. Plus, they've enjoyed pretty good health from their main players all season. If they win much more than 50 games, I'll be surprised.

I agree, Utah started out the season 12-1, since then they've gone 12-10. They're another team with a tough road trip this month, albeit against the Eastern Conference, but their opponents include Washington, Chicago, Detroit, and Toronto. Four games in 6 nights on the road is tough.

The Nets made a big push this past week, winning 3 or 4 games, including a huge comeback win at Chicago. They have won 7 of their last 10 games, and have moved ahead of the Bucks for the 8th seed. The Nets are showing a lot of resolve despite the constant trade rumors and Jason Kidd's messy divorce.
