How long will Trump be president?

  1. Less than 4 years (state reason - impeachment or other)

    27.8%
  2. 4 years

    33.3%
  3. More than 4, less than 8 (state reason)

    2.8%
  4. 8 years

    30.6%
  5. more than 8 (he'll get rid of term limits like, y'know, Putin)

    5.6%

I can see it now. Trump sitting at his desk in the oval office on live TV:

I have made America great again faster than any other president. Very fast. I have done everything I promised. Everything accept healthcare and the wall and some other stuff because the congress and senate won't let me. There are some bad hombres there. Bad hombres. Anyway I'm the best president ever and I am going to step down from office. NBC called, they need me back on the apprentice. I won't be calling them teams anymore. Now they'll be cabinets and I'll fire them. Most of them will probably quit like sissys, but i'll fire them anyway. That Schwarzenegger guy brought the ratings down horribly. He's terrible. Just terrible. Nothing like me. I also have to get to building my new tower in Russia. Its going to be huge. But, don't worry America I am going to leave you in good hands. Trust me I know all about hands. Your new president will be very smart, rich, and good looking just like me. Thats right i'm leaving Ivanka in charge. Jared will be the first lady. He will make a great first lady. (Someone telling Trump something offscreen)
What do you mean Pence will be president? The constitution? Well I'm the dictator I mean president and I get choose my successor. I don't? Damn. Well I guess I'm staying. I'm still on live tv? Why didn't you tell me? Well I'm going to continue to make America great again. Got to go. I have some tweets to get out. Lots of tweets. Bigly tweets.

    You’re kidding.

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/j...l-ghostwriter-as-a-top-expert/article/2637222

Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of President Trump's famous "The Art of the Deal" book, is one of the media's favorite experts to interview about the new president, even though a review of his comments show he's often wrong when he predicts what Trump will do next, and hasn't been in touch with him for decades.

    ...

In late August, Trump pledged $1 million to charity for victims of Hurricane Harvey, which had wrecked Houston and much of the Texas gulf shore region.

"No way Trump donates $1m of own money to Harvey victims," Schwartz tweeted in response. "He only promises to give. Never actually does."

Newsweek and other news outlets wrote stories on the prediction. But Trump did fulfill the promise, as several charities, including the Salvation Army and Red Cross, confirmed days later that they had received checks from Trump.

As far back as May, and at least three times since then, Schwartz has declared Trump's presidency either over or predicted a soon-coming resignation.

Denny - I have no idea if Tony Schwartz is right or wrong, I do however think it is interesting that someone who knew Trump so well said that.

Personally, I think if Mueller gets too close, if there is any collusion, or if Trump's finances with Russia start to come out (if true, and I think there is a lot of evidence that his golf courses were financed by the Russians after his bankruptcies), I think he easily could leave.

He kind of reminds me of Robert Redford at the end of The Candidate (great movie btw - about a guy who never expected to win and who wins.)

He’s made the “end is near” prediction on a monthly basis since February. He hasn’t interacted with Trump in 16 years. He knows not much.

There’s a logical fallacy in trotting him out for his worthless opinion. Even if he were an expert.

@Stevenson serious question. Was Hillary for or against TPP?

The answer is, in part, why she lost.

Dems have wasted a year making no change in leadership or personnel, views, goals, or any other reasons they lost. Clintons and the foundation are headed toward court, the lib Hollywood hypocrisy is on full display while the Dow hits record after record, employment is booming, wages are rising, enemies are trembling, illegals are going home and we’re all going to get a big tax break. He’s in for 8.

Even if he wanted to, I don't know if he's healthy enough to stick with it after 4 years.

Nah. He'll get probation, at most. More likely, he'll be free on appeal until he has a massive coronary and keels over.

    @Stevenson

Clinton’s pollster from 1996, and Hillary Clinton campaign strategist in 2008.

The man speaks truth to power, and knows what he’s talking about. The media (CNN et al) lie without remorse about this issue.

You Can’t Buy the Presidency for $100,000
Russia didn’t win Trump the White House any more than China re-elected Bill Clinton in 1996.

I have 40 years of experience in politics, and this Russian ad buy, mostly after the election anyway, simply does not add up to a carefully targeted campaign to move voters. It takes tens of millions of dollars to deliver meaningful messages to the contested portion of the electorate. Converting someone who voted for the other party last time is an enormously difficult task. Swing voters in states like Ohio or Florida are typically barraged with 50% or more of a campaign’s budget. Try watching TV in those states the week before an election and you will see how jammed the airwaves are.

No one wants foreign governments meddling in American elections. In 1996, the Chinese government had the “China plan” and pumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into Bill Clinton’s re-election campaign. There were congressional investigations, and several fundraisers were prosecuted, but Attorney General Janet Reno rejected calls for an independent counsel. Campaigns tightened up their donor-validation procedures, and life moved on. The same is called for here. Internet companies should improve their screening of electioneering ads, impose clearer standards on all ads, and do a better job weeding out phony accounts.

Millions of taxpayer dollars have probably been spent already poring over that $100,000 of Facebook ads. Better to keep it all in perspective, as everyone did in 1996. The only way Russia will get its money’s worth is if Washington overreacts and narrows the very freedoms that make America different in the first place.

Mr. Penn, managing director of the Stagwell Group, was chief strategist on Bill Clinton’s 1996 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign, and Mrs. Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.

@Denny Crane - To quote an even worse Dem, she was for it before she was against it!

And I agree, that is definitely a reason she lost.

No comment on Mark Penn's article? He's a mainstream democrat who could only get his article published by the WSJ? What's up with that?

Another reason why Clinton absolutely should have lost. Russia, Russia, Russia! Indeed.

    http://thehill.com/policy/national-...sian-bribery-plot-before-obama-administration

FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow

Before the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.

Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show.

They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.

She really should be locked up.
