Can we all agree at least to stop calling this "meddling"? Meddling is what my mother in law does sometimes. This was an act of war, no less.

I think that's a bit over the top. You ready to unleash a military attack on the Russians in retaliation?

I also think that it's a bit disingenuous for Americans to act like we haven't "meddled" or "attacked" other countries in the past in an attempt to influence who gets the reigns of power.

I'm certainly not saying that we shouldn't try to stop it, to the extent that's possible in an era of open internet access, but we should do the best we can. Given the relative lack of effort that we've expended so far on making sure that our polling equipment and elections methods around the country are secure, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Or maybe he didn't want the announcement to be dismissed as partisan, so he tried to get McConnell (who had seen the intelligence) to make a joint statement or otherwise admit to the problem, but McConnell refused. Because McConnell puts party over country.

That has not been proven and cannot ever be proven (nor can the converse).

I have no doubt that multiple sleaze bags along the way could have done more to stop the Russians if they had been willing to put national interests above partisanship. Unfortunately, those kinds of principled folks are in woeful supply in DC.

It's OK. Putin is not upset about it, so, not an issue.

Nah, it's more important that we keep our right to bear arms against the British militia.

I'll quote a few paragraphs from a WaPo article...

    "
But there are reasons to be skeptical of the claim that Russia swung the election for Trump. First, Russian information warriors produced far less fake news and polarizing rhetoric than did domestic and other international sources. Russia simply added to the already deafening cacophony of inflammatory rhetoric and misinformation.
Second, the hacked emails had little obvious impact. The first batch of Democratic National Committee emails was released in July 2016, amid the two party conventions — after which Clinton’s lead increased. Similarly, after WikiLeaks released John Podesta’s emails in October, Clinton’s support increased, apparently in response to such other campaign events as the release of the “Access Hollywood” tape. Trust in Clinton remained more or less the same throughout October — not what we’d expect to see if the emails had made a difference.
Of course, Russia may still have influenced the outcome. As FiveThirtyEight’s Harry Enten notes, “the drip, drip, drip” of these email releases “makes it all but impossible to measure their effect precisely.” And Trump won by such a thin margin that even a small Russian impact could have tipped the election.
But there is far stronger evidence that other factors were more critical. For instance, public opinion shifted suddenly after Oct. 28, when FBI Director James B. Comey announced that he was reopening an investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state. And the closeness of the election mostly resulted from polarization between Democrats and Republicans that long predates Russian President Vladimir Putin or the rise of Trump.
It’s true that Russia has been increasingly trying to meddle in Western elections. But it hasn’t gotten much for its efforts — and these efforts have often backfired. For instance, the U.S. uproar about Russian interference has almost certainly made it less likely that the United States will lift its sanctions. Thus, on balance, Putin’s expansion of Russian interference may not be in Russia’s interests"

You're technically correct that it can't be proven. However, it seems clear to me that the impact was negligible.

MFs keep saying this bullshit while being completely understanding that "collusion" is not a crime.

    Conspiracy IS.

So you can say "no collusion" till your blue in the face but it doesn't mean shit.

Mueller SPECIFICALLY said that he cannot charge the president with a crime and WHY he couldn't. DOJ cannot do that.

Congress can and he gave them the roadmap to do it.

When your sorry fat hutt is finally impeached. It will be a great day.

MUELLER: "I don't have the power to arrest and accuse a president of a crime but I do have the power to clear him of one. I can not clear him of one"

Really not understanding WTF is wrong with Republicans. Y'all have Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Perhaps the Russians did it. But they did not write the emails they read.

Well now, I'll take this level of warfare every chance compared to the last time I participated. The last time, I was about to go into Cuba. I thought my ass was grass and mower blades were close in.

No American was charged with collusion or conspiracy for working with the Russians to hack the election.

They aren't immune from an indictment.

Like I said, waste more time and money on this wild goose chase. It really shows how utterly fucked up the left truly is.

Ken Starr was/is a partisan hack. But I don't think he indicted Clinton.
