Not to be argumentative, but Let me repeat with more clarity. Cruz has made enemies among the GOP establishment as defined within the beltway of DC and NYC. No disputing this, but that is a small % of GOP as most of the party are States oriented and grass roots. Those folks idolize Cruz. For example, you would think Cruz, on the surface, doesn't mesh well with California politics. But on the contrary he's favored to win most of the 53 congressional districts here. I see as many Cruz bumperstickers as I do Bernie or Hillary.
Contested convention, no more party brokers anymore. And if they get to a 6th ballot...fully expect a fresh face to be positioned, someone undamaged by the process.
...oh, I know what you're saying but if the convention were held today he'd probably have some problems. I'm not saying he may not win it, I'm just saying that between now and then he has to win some folks over to really get things snowballing. And I think that some of his current/future support among voters, politicians, delegates, etc., certainly won't be because of his history but instead, it will be from people who are unified in keeping the nomination/presidency away from Trump...and rightfully so.
