Similarly, I have an agenda and everybody should get the fuck out of my way. But like AOC, I have no power to implement my agenda, so it really doesn't matter my attitude towards compromise. No one is offering to compromise with me, they are just using their power to do what they want and ignore what I want. AOC-the-Demon-leader-of-the-Dems is a fabrication of the Republican party. In reality she's one of 438 members of the House, without any official leadership role or significant seniority or large group of like-minded members to support her. It's not that far from Republicans saying there is a guy on a random message board who is a Democrat and also claims to be a commie pinko and therefore we can't vote for any Democrat. The way to avoid that happening is not to pay Sly to ban me. The way to avoid that is for the Democrats running for election to define who they are and what they stand for for themselves, instead of letting the other party tar them as barfo-lovers. barfo
Im for a popular vote as I think more parties would be able to play therefore increasing the number of voters form those that do not vote now and thats a bunch. What if Bernie, Joe, Kamala, Kasich & Rubio & Mark Cuban were all on a Presidential ticket who would win the popular vote? Also, minority parties could raise enough money to have an impact. Think about how many do not vote each election but would if a candidate lined up with their thinking and their vote would count as 1.
She certainly has been a fabrication to a degree and the Republicans play it to the hilt, but she herself is complicit in that by her own comments and flare for publicity. But my point still stands, she scares (and did scare) the pants off many who might consider voting for Biden (or their House Democrat) but are afraid the The Squad will somehow force their agenda on to Joe. And that is what I believe happened with some of the seats that were lost.
You understand that in this case - we have 2 options: 1. You might have a president that was voted by 30% of the voters - talk about a lot of people not being happy. or 2. You will have to change the system to a coalition system like they have elsewhere - where you will have multiple parties making backroom deals to create a coalition - and you will get a what we see in places like Italy or Israel - which quite frankly, is not a pretty democracy - it's basically the 2 party system where minorities have tons of power because they can create a block for a coalition. I think the nice thing about the current system is that you have a long primary process that basically eliminates the smaller groups and forces people the decide if they are willing to compromise with their 'block' or not - but that compromise is done at a personal level where you cast a vote or not, instead of the compromises done by the politicians in backroom deals. It's basically a better version of option #2.
No doubt that she (or the enhanced image of her) scares conservatives, and that fear did help defeat Dems. It worked very well for the Rs. I assert, though, the solution is not to make her or anyone else shut up, the solution is better messaging from the D candidates and party. barfo
AOC is a Sanders supporter who then worked on Biden's platform team. Sounds like compromise to me. She is being demonized like Hillary Clinton was. There is among many an image of HILLARY!!!; that has little to do with the actual person, and they are trying the same with the Congresswoman (along with Ilhan Omar). Got to have a woman to hate.
