Trump supporters, what would he have to say before you would not vote for him?

See? The assumption is, if you have friends in the right places, you're above the law. The DoJ isn't the White House Counsel. It's supposed to be blind, yet we just casually accept it's okay that it's completely politicized.

W appointed a special prosecutor who got Scooter Libby. And he did not pardon him.

    Huge contrast.

Reagan was a horrible governor of Calif...locked up half the state for marijuana and put many single moms on welfare while he did it. Killed a cash cow...as president he had a partnership with Margaret Thatcher that brought down the wall in East Germany...his crowning achievement...then his starwars program put us in debt that only the computer boom staved off...the last 2-3 years of his term he was stricken with alzheimers disease...basically a puppet...he's not on my HOF list for great presidents

    Democrats controlled the purse. Prriod.

Reagan's tax cuts grew government revenues by 2x. Democrats grew spending 3x.

Star wars had a PUNY budget. $200B over 30 years.

Military spending was about half what it was in the JFK years.

He had in his first few years that Bill Clinton charm..he charmed the world...I'm not a huge Reagan fan but I give him credit for his global charisma and connections...he had 3 really good years that were historically important...he had many years in politics that were terrible

You got me interested in Reagan and his opposition to marijuana, and illegal drugs in general. In the 1980s, I exchanged several mails with myy congressman, the awful Henry Hyde. I suggested to him that legalization and taxing marijuana would end a huge underground economy and raise revenue for the government. His reply was that where it is tried, a decent % chunk of the population becomes dependent, and it's not in the best interest of the nation to have more drug addicts. I still think I was right, but the guy did make a quality argument against.

So Reagan wrote his own speeches. I do remember C.A.M.P., just say no, and all the rest. But in his own hand writing, he made a case against marijuana.

The link is here to one such speech:
    https://books.google.com/books?id=CExclJtH1qYC&pg=PT559&lpg=PT559&dq=reagan marijuana&source=bl&ots=YLLDn_9Oyl&sig=7T8C7475NMd_WH9pLE7jNO5_y6o&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjd1L-e5LrOAhVM5mMKHQl-AzA4ChDoAQg1MAk#v=onepage&q=reagan marijuana&f=true

There is an image there of his handwritten version as well. So I read it and his claims, and sure enough, he had the facts on his side. The vast majority of people polled at the time opposed legislation as well.

    Anyhow:

    1. THC stays in the body (fat cells) for a month. True.

    2. THC does indeed affect short term memory and transfer to long term. True.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_and_memory

    3. Marijuana slows the production of white blood cells. True.
    http://topnews.us/content/229343-use-cannabis-suppresses-body-s-immune-system-says-study

    4. Pot smoke contains carcinogens. True, but at the time it wasn't understood that THC counters the effects.
    http://www.webmd.com/cancer/news/20051017/pot-smoke-less-carcinogenic-than-tobacco

And there is this quote attributed to him from many sources:
    https://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ronald_Reagan
The smoke from burning marijuana contains many more cancer-causing substances than tobacco. And if that isn’t enough it leads to bronchitis and emphysema. If adults want to take such chances that is their business. But surely the communications media … should let four million youngsters know what they are risking.

    Sure enough:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3276036/
We affirm that in all cases of bullous emphysema in young individuals, marijuana abuse should be included in the differential diagnosis. The period of marijuana smoking plays an important role in the development of lung emphysema. Most of the patients are asymptomatic and present with spontaneous pneumothoraces. Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) should be considered as one of the options for resection of bulla and prevention of recurrent pneumothoraces.

I didn't agree with him on everything. He promised to end selective service, but didn't.

On the other hand, he literally saved the world. Scientists had their doomsday clock at 11:59PM. When he met with Gorby in Iceland, the two neatly eliminated their entire nuclear weapons stockpiles. All of the real nuclear reduction treaties that followed are thanks to him.

He was willing to meet face to face with our enemies and make peace.

That's 200 billion Reagan era dollars without interest...he invented great American debt for an enormous weapons program that he claimed would checkmate the world....super hawk...loved to play cowboys with white hats in the movies....

I agree with his part in ending the cold war with Thatcher...that was historical and credit where credit is due...but that's really a chapter in his political career....over the span of it, I don't give him that high of a grade

Look, I know him a little bit, and certainly won't vote for him due to his policies, but of course he has "the tools to do the job".

I will vote for Trump. Without remorse. I am not sure what the hell is wrong with the rest of you.
