Then he might resign and have Pence pardon him because he knows the Dems are going to come after him hard when they control the house, senate, and whitehouse. His New York charges aren't going anywhere though. Those aren't covered in a federal pardon. I could see trump trying to change the perimeters of a pardon with an executive order, but it won't work.
Couldn't he pardon himself, let it go to the SCOTUS, and assume his majority would cover his ass? Not a rhetorical question; I don't know if this is possible and am asking.
