Oh btw, it seems pretty odd the people would vote for Statehood given the back ground as you said. I was there in Hawaii when it officially became a State. Seems to me that after 60 years of oversight,taxation and governance without representation as a territory that having population based in the house of representatives and 2 members in the senate would certainly be a reason for joy. ps-edit forgot to mention that hawaiians only make up about 10% of the population. a would bet it was a similar # in 1959
