The wall and the "loose borders" is, pardon the pun, a trumped up issue. The southern border is actually quite secure.

Illegal immigration comes mostly from people overstaying their legal visas.

We have physical barriers. How do you know more are needed? Why do you prioritize them over other needs?

    Red herring topic.

That is like saying most home breakins happen at the back door. You already have a front door so a lock is not needed there.

Whe need to improve our nation's security at both our front and back doors.

Suppose you only have money for a lock on one door. Which door do you put the lock on?

Then skip buying any locks, and buy a shotgun and teargas.

Exactly, you should do what's most effective.

Now, explain why a wall on the border is the most effective thing we can do for national security. Is that $5b best spent on stopping terrorists or drug traffickers, or stopping women and children fleeing poverty?

Are you saying we shouldn't care about kids or try to help them? How about we take that Wall money and spend it on helping those kids rather than pour the Wall money down a rat hole?

Didn't watch. Why would I subject myself to more lies and disinformation. He's a big fat fuck, too. I don't like looking at him.

Obviously help the kids but at the same time unfortunately there are laws that have been in place. You can’t just come and go into the country as you please if you’re from any other country. As it should be. This idea we need to
just let people in is ridiculous. The system is fucked, it’s been fucked. However don’t bring your damn kids into this and then act surprised when bad shit happens. Simple logic. I’m not for the wall and never was. It’s a ridiculous idea. Yes there are people looking to come to this country for better lives, I’m all for
It. Let them get their papers and get in. You also can’t ignore the bad ones that try to come into this country. That’s why it’s such a complex situation because you do need these laws but at the same time it causes a bunch of problems

There are so many flaws in this that I don't really no where to start.
Would you expect the parents to leave their children at home to be raped, robbed and murdered while the parents seek asylum? Who's going to feed, clothe, protect and house those children while their parents are up North seeking asylum?
Did you think a wall is going to somehow prevent immigration into our country?
Don't you know that experts say that money should be spent more effectively apprehending those who enter illegally? I've provided examples ad nauseam.
Laws in place, both international and U.S. laws, say that we must accept all who enter either at ports of entry or otherwise, and provide adjudication of their cases. This is in black and white. So, should we follow the law or Trump?

But “his promise” was Mexico would pay for it. If Mexico wants to cover the cost I am sure the Democrats will be willing to accept the wall.

How many times do I have to say the wall is a dumb idea and I don’t and haven’t supported trump. It’s cemented in some of your minds that I support him or whatever the hell. The governments always done idiotic shit with money that shouldn’t be done in the first place. I’m just saying if you’re from Mexico and you know getting across the border is quite the journey and border patrol agents are often probabaly assholes then why are you bringing your kids into this and then playing victim when they have your kid and you? It makes no sense. Get here legally. I have lived in Gresham my whole life. Right on the outskirts near boring and all that. A lot of nurseries. A lot of Mexican people. Some legal, some not. Legal Mexicans I know of actually dislike the Mexicans that don’t have their green card. Nobody is saying they are bad people or whatever bullshit gets thrown around. It’s the law. I don’t care who you are outside the country. If you wanna get here, you need the right work. Simple. Whatever bad things that are happening due to people crossing and getting caught. I’m not down with. But it’s been happening for years and people all of a sudden
Give a shit because trump is the president. Were talking about the situation when Obama was president or bush? No you weren’t.

I’m not defending trump, I’m just saying. I don’t support the guy, I don’t care for the guy but let’s not also exaggerate and pretend he’s the second coming of Hitler. Put things in perspective

Is it that it makes no sense, or is it just that you don't understand it?

Maybe that's why you have trouble putting yourself in a migrant's shoes?

    And whatever happened to Damascus?

I do live in Damascus. Literally three minutes away from historic downtown of Gresham. Didn’t know if you knew this but Gresham isn’t filled with white people. Damascus is. My great grandparents on both sides were immigrants. Tough life I assume. But they did what they had to do to get here and make a better life. Some have done it here illegally but hey, what’s so hard about doing it legally? It seems you like every other fantasy living “progressive” just wants to let everybody in. Okay sure. Go for it

Well, now you've asked the right question!

There is no way for most of these people to do it legally. Literally, there is no option. It's not a matter of 'waiting in line'. There is no line for them.

We put so many barriers on legal immigration that most people simply aren't eligible.

The one avenue they might have is to seek asylum - but to apply for asylum you have to be physically in the USA. So to get legal status that way they have to enter illegally.

There are routes to knowledge other than personal experience and Joe Rogan podcasts.

What’s your issue with the Rogan podcasts? There are a lot of brilliant people who appear on that podcast. A whole range. I guess cnn will do for you though.
