Speaking of other players Hicks is starting to look pretty good out there. Guy has speed, great arm, starting to get the hits. Still takes odd routes but he'll improve. Like the Romine and Refsnyder Boys to making some nice contributions and a jolt of youth.

It's funny what can happen when you get some new blood in there. I wouldn't wish injury on anybody but Tex was an absolute anchor in this lineup.

If Tex has to have season ending surgery I cannot feel for a man who is going to get the remainder of his twenty plus million salary. The team has improved a bit but if Sharpie the GM does not pull off a couple of moves we'll see a bleak '17 & '18 as well. Still don't believe its a playoff team but at least the Yankees could gain more respect.

...defense is definitely his better side...I think he could do even better in CF because lets face it, Ellsbury's arm is like, well, mine. Not sure how long the Yanx will give him to prove he can hit.

Hicks isn't hitting- I can't see him getting into any kind of groove or improving as a hitter unless he gets a prolonged period of playing time. He's still a work in progress as a hitter, he's not a veteran and established enough to be an asset (as a hitter) coming off the bench once or twice a week.
If the Yanks/Cashman had balls enough to go with him they would've opened a spot for him by trading Gardner. Didn't happen and probably won't.

    lol, very well Mess.
In the old days, before there were divisions, a team which finished in the lower half of the standings for a couple/few years with a losing record was called a "2nd division team" and I guess this is what keeps me from packing it in when they are playing like horseshit.
    I'm kinda trapped, lol -
I just can't turn away when the team is 6-8 games or so out of first place unless they've been a "2nd division team" in recent history and particularly when there are over 100(?) games left.

We knew there would probably be injuries and Refsnyder, Sanchez and possibly Judge (if they weren't injured and doing okay AAA) would get their chances sooner than later.
The Tex injury is definitely a "blessing" and the Yanks are kinda forced into giving Refsnyder playing time and finding something out about him.
Romine 27 yrs old homegrown has been getting less fanfare but he is getting a good look from the Yanks.
So far his bat has been better than expected but he hasn't distinguished himself defensively...quite mediocre...so far.

...this team has been in the same relatively mediocre mode for going on 3 1/2 years now...so it's not like this is just a sudden bump in the road. We are a long way from seeing another championship, so for now, as helpless fans, we will be relegated to watching a very "un-Yankee-like" product.

...this time last year, Sanchez and Judge were supposed to be "the future" and before that it was J R Murphy and Miguel Montero, and so on, but this is because we believed in the Yankee prospect propaganda machine...now they are struggling. Yes, maybe some new blood at the trade deadline and some of the youngsters from the farm may give us hope for the future but for now we have a team that will continue to flounder around the .500 mark for the present as well as the foreseeable future.

...this team is what it is and there is no logical reason to believe they can overtake the Jays/O's/Sox this year.

...and the really sad thing is that the Steins evidently are OK with the status quo.

I honestly think with regular playing time that Hicks could put up 15HRs, 60-70 RBI, hit 250-260+ & steal 20+ bases.

...that's why I said he might end up better off as a CFer because of his speed and defense. The numbers you mentioned are acceptable for a CFer but we need a little more production than that from a corner OFer.

actually a very good idea IMO. Love the thought, as well as watching his Rifle Arm fire; there just are not enough arms like it in MLB today......

2nd-4th in assists since 013, a very good range factor, good glove work, (and-a first round draft pick by the Twinkies). The kid only needs to get his B'avg up to speed. (yet that's been mentioned prior)...

By all means, I'd rather see Hicks in CF than noodler arm Ells....or Hicks in either corner, rather than Gardner and Beltran, but the way Beltran is hitting, hmmmph...
