    You just blew his mind.

Yeah I think we can enter free agency with some flexibility next offseason, we make some long-shot pitch for Deron and Dwight to come here and team up with LaMarcus and Matthews. That probably doesn't work out, so then we have Gerald as a fall back plan along with bringing in another B level free agent. Maybe Gerald will happily follow Marcus Camby's career arch and stay in rip city on a reasonable 2 or 3 year contract.

Wallace has played his career in Sacramento and Charlotte before coming to the Blazers, and nothing has ever suggested he wasn't happy in those places because he wanted to be in a big market. If the Blazers want to re-sign him, I don't think that will be too difficult. And at 31, he'll only be late-prime. Yeah, he might be an "old 31," but hardly shot, most likely.

I'm cool with that if we finally trade Batum. We need to get some value for Batum if are hitching our wagon to Wallace. Talk of Batum playing the 2 spot is a joke.

crap. Post got deleted. But here's one tidbit I didn't want to leave behind:
How many marquee free agents did MIA sign before the SuperFriends? Here's the list:
2010: Joel Anthony. Jamaal Magloire. Carlos Arroyo. Rafer Alston.
2009: Joel Anthony. Jamaal Magloire. Shaun Livingston. Matt Walsh. Luther Head.
2008: Daequan Cook, Joel Anthony, Jeremy Richardson and Marcus Slaughter. Smush Parker. Penny Hardaway. Alexander Johnson. Brian Chase. Luke Jackson. Bobby JOnes. Blake Ahearn. Stephen Lasme.
2007: Mike gansey. Chris Quinn. Daniel HOrton. Vincent Grier. Robert Hite. Alonzo Mourning. Dwyane Wade (extension). Gary Payton. Eddie Jones.
2006: Shaq (resigned). Udonis Haslem. Matt Walsh. Gary Payton. Shandon Anderson. Jason Kapono. Gerald Fitch.
    2005: Qyntel Woods. Alonzo Mourning.
What would've been your probability in January 2010 that within 6 months, and with a boatload of Cap Space, SuperFriends would be in MIA?

Is your line of reasoning "Improbable things happen, so we should plan on something improbable happening for Portland"? Because that's the theme I get from your posts. You mention the fact that late-round gems are found in the draft, even though it was improbable for the team that found them, as reasoning why Portland should pick up non-top-ten draft picks. You mention that Miami, against precedent, signed two marquee free agents as reasoning why cap space should be attractive to Portland.

Yes, improbable things do happen from time to time. That doesn't mean they weren't improbable and it doesn't seem like a sound way to do future planning.

Miami and Portland just seem like two totally different destinations to me. I don't know why. Can't place my finger on it exactly.

Why? He shoots the three well, he has a nice mid-range shot, he curls off screens well for shots, he handles much better than Matthews, and he can defend 1-4. He is smaller than Durant, who can play the 2. What doesn't Nic have in order to play the 2?

Mike Rice was geeked last night on twitter. A 'world shocker' of a move.

Buy or sell: Mike Rice is currently incoherently drunk right now?

No, the line of reasoning is "look at the realities of the NBA, and not some probablistic model with faulty entering arguments."

There haven't been very many teams in the last decade who were a) playoff teams, b) had a young all-star-level player locked up long-term, and c) 30+ M in cap space. The ones who did have that...well, I'll let you look that one up.

It's improbable that a team would get to that state of all 3 happening. The Blazers can be there, and could've (as rumored) had multiple first-round picks in addition. That's something that hasn't happened before.

I mentioned MIA because it wasn't South Beach and Sunshine that made FA's go there. South Beach and Sunshine without 2x max cap space got them Joel Anthony and Chris Quinn. If they would've had only 1x Max slot, SuperFriends "probably" don't happen. As we're noticing, money talks. Why is Nene in DEN? Why did Jordan sign with GSW (and get matched by LAL)? Even with Chandler, did he give up more money somewhere else to go to NYK?

We have the potential of LMA, Batum and just as much cap space, but with multiple 1st rounders thrown in. Are you also saying it's "improbable" to happen here, b/c it hasn't happened before?
