There's more to it than Crawford. Batum needs PT and we should give him this season to prove himself. The Blazers want the maximum cap room next season too.

Neither Crawford nor Wallace is going to help this Blazer team win a title this year. Why not add assets like picks if you can?

Well, I tend to agree with you; but they may be thinking differently. They may feel this gives them room for Crawford and somebody like Landry and allows Batum to grow as a player. They may feel they can compete with this team and at the same time develop the younger players they have. Plus add the picks, so they would be trying to rebuild on the run.

If this happens, I'm sure this signals a shift in thinking. I won't judge the rumor until I hear what kind of picks and whether they're protected. I would want a first round pick from Orlando, unprotected. Otherwise it's not worth it. If we could get a pick from New Jersey and Orlando, we would be getting a potential lottery pick and a mid-to-late first rounder. That's not bad for Wallace. As much as I would hate it, it clears him off our cap a year early and it gives us some more picks in a nice draft. I would seriously consider taking offers on Aldridge too. The heart thing scares me. If we could get a decent young player and a pick, I would probably do it.

How many times has Chad reiterated that "we are probably not winning a title this year?"

Maybe he really is pushing for a rebuild? Wasn't there a rumor out that Cho wanted to do the same?

That was before Brandon Roy was officially gone. Roy being gone gone changed everything, I suspect.

This seriously sounds like they may make a play for CP3 -- "multiple first round picks"

    Otherwise it makes no sense.

    A part of... It's a three way between NJ-Por-Orl.

    To Orlando:
    Brook Lopez
    Gerald Wallace

    To New Jersey:
    Dwight Howard

    To Portland:
    Multiple first round picks

Something tells me this rumor is originating from Orlando or New Jersey, because it doesn't pass the sniff test. If the Blazers are going after Crawford, which has been confirmed, then it makes no sense to move Wallace.

I'm not opposed to blowing it up - but if we do, I sure hope the plan is a lot better than bringing in Jamal Crawford and trading Wallace for (what would seem to be) not so great picks.

    To New Orleans:
Multiple first round picks & Felton

    To Portland:
    Chris Paul

    and we sign Crawford.

FYI - CP3 and his family and Larry Miller are very good friends.

Make it multiple firsts + Felton + Batum and you might be on to something there. Or what I just said Plus Camby and Okafor.

Signing Crawford and shipping out Wallace isn't a rebuild. It means Wallace wasn't in the plans, and that Batum is going to be extended at some point.

I think it'd would most certainly have to include Wesley and Freeland. They want/need as much young talent as they can get.

If you're rebuilding, why would you spend most of your money on an aging guard like Crawford? Also, Wallace sticking around and Batum being extended aren't mutually exclusive.

It's not as if we'd be making a long term commitment to Crawford. It's a 1 year deal/

Correction, CP3 used to be friends with Larry Miller when Larry was in charge of the Air Jordan division at Nike about hasn't given two shits about the man since he became president of the Blazers.
