that is what can be interesting. if people let it. having everything your own way all the time is boring. making it a point to never read or view anything i disagree with never pushes my limits, never allows me to grow, and inhibits my ability to understand the ideas of others. conflict and difference of opinion can be quite useful and long as people don't take things too seriously. people who disagree with you can force you to reexamine your own life, your own ideas, your own morals. when you engage with them you are forced to THINK. thats not a bad thing. thats a good thing.
that's the best solution. pushing blazer-forum originated threads into some cyberspace with other posters doesn't work IMO. can you do a sub-forum of the OT forum where stupid threads go to die? shit, it may even become more popular than the parent!
I've got nothing against porn sites, but I sure hate it when I visit some site and browse away and they have javascript that forces me to go to some porn site. You have a valid point of view, but it's fair to say so does e_blazer (and others).
Yes, this is one of my preferred solutions. I don't want to force it on you or anyone else who posts here, tho. Sounds like 2 votes for #1.
you can even move the "stupid and random thoughts" to this sub-sub forum. I did that once...called it "the watering hole" or something to be similar to a bar.
I say leave it the way things are. A little time goes by and people will make the adjustments that are appropriate and get used to each other. Its easy to over manage a thing like this. There has been a lot of conversation here. And that is the goal. Or should be. Nobody is trolling, or namecalling, or baiting or any of that bullshit.
Thanks. I've always thought a "kitchen sink" (RTT) type thread for chit chat is a good idea. I like the idea of a cage match kind of forum, too, where there are absolutely no rules - throw insults and that kind of thing at one another, let off steam.
InsideHoops.com tried that I think with a Smack forum., it didn't end well. I'm generally in the camp of no personally directed insults at posters as the cardinal rule. It gets bad, then stalkerish, etc.
This discussion is for the Blazers forum and solution. We do have the same issue outside the Blazers forum that needs to be addressed as well. Consistency on the solution seems like a good idea to me, but we'll address this second issue after resolving this one.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've probably used over 75% of those. What's worse is that I didn't need a cheatsheet--those lame refutations occurred to me on my own.
I'd like to take a second and note the difference in the attitude of the non-Blazer mods here. I'm not bootlicking because I'm afraid of being banned from another forum, but it's nice to be in a place where you can have an honest conversation and discourse. Thanks to the folks at S2 for setting this place up.
My two cents the sorts of threads started by ucatchtrout and xericx are really annoying, pointless, and most of all, there's way too many of them. Terrence and Phillip are funny.... for 20 minutes. Pace yourselves, guys, all you're doing is pushing down your own threads. I've already started ignoring the OT forum because of the flood of stupid threads. One or two a week is fine, but ten a day is just annoying and sad. I think the best solution would be for the posters to just tone it down a bit..... but if they don't care about my opinion, I like the OT subforum idea, with a little suggestion (if possible) - threads can receive "negative (and positive) reputation." If a thread gets enough negative votes, it gets bumped down into the subforum.
They're on the first page and clutter up the forum, hiding other interesting threads. I want to look at the OT forum without reading utter crap that belongs in a comment to a video on youtube. I start my own threads when I have something worth posting, what's the point of posting something just for the hell of it? And no response to the rest of that paragraph of my post?
