Re: UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort (Feb. 5th) I wonder if Jones will be able to take down Bader. I wonder if Rich can rock Forrest or if Forrest can just grind out another win?
Re: UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort (Feb. 5th) I can't see Belfort winning after such a long layoff. I think Anderson will take him into the championship rounds for the first time in his career. Silva by decision. Franklin is better than Griffin at everything but three rounds aren't enough for him to finish Griffin in. Decision Franklin. Ellenberger has been submitted before--but the step up in competition for Rocha is too much. Ellenberger by TKO. Jones is better than Bader and should dummy him. Jones by TKO. Finally I think Banuelos can win if he stays on his bike. Banuelos by decision.

Re: UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort (Feb. 5th) I hope Vitor pulls the upset, I've got some money riding on him. However, he looked a little intimidated as that staredown continued.

Re: UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort (Feb. 5th) Anderson Silva's front kick knockout was vintage. Great move. Pretty uneventful up until that point though. Vitor Belfort was a fucking train wreck. He did nothing for 3-1/2 minutes then got knocked the fuck out. Way to go, champ. For all the talk of "bringing the fight to Anderson" he did anything but that. I guess Yushin Okami or a rematch with Chael Sonnen is next for Anderson. Seems reasonable to get him back in the cage sooner than later. Forrest Griffin hulk-smashed Rich Franklin. Griffin is too big and strong for most light heavyweights. Impressive performance by him basically shutting down Rich Franklin. Dunno what is next for Griffin. Maybe the winner of Jackson/Silva. Maybe Lyoto Machida. Franklin is such a tweener. Nobody would benefit from a 195-lbs. division more than him. Too bad it doesn't exist. I don't know where he goes from here. He accomplished so little in the fight. Seems like he's about to regain gatekeeper status. Jon Jones gets the title shot. I had no idea Rashad Evans was injured. Jones looked great--but perhaps a bit more conservative than we're used to. Went for a reverse guillotine in the first round and a nice D'arce in the second. Seems like his skills are becoming more well-rounded. His striking didn't look as good as normal but statistically speaking Bader has good strike defence so maybe that was a factor. Jones/Shogun Rua should be an exciting title fight. Hopefully Rua is going to fully recover from his knee problems. That might be the biggest factor on that fight. Ryan Bader got exposed, pretty much. A good wrestler with some clubbing punches. Not much else. He was very tentative. I think he could've put on a better performance if he wasn't so nervy. A fight with Franklin kind of makes sense--supposing Franklin's arm isn't busted. Jake Ellenberger and Miguel Torres both fought not to lose. Not much to say about those fights. They didn't really improve their standing much. Cowboy Cerrone looked good. Nice win for him. Maybe he'll get the Cole Miller fight now. Kyle Kingsbury's knockout was great but it came at the expense of an inexperienced fighter. Dunno how much it proves. Omigawa and Yamamoto become two more Japanese flops in the UFC. For every Yushin Okami there are like ten Yoshiyuki Yoshida's. Being Japanese in the UFC is not a good thing. Chad Mendes--still boring. Demetrious Johnson--point fighter, but an exciting one at least. Johnson vs. Torres? Gabe Rudiger is in way over his head in the UFC. It would be a miracle if he isn't cut by tonight.
