Bart Palashew... out, Rafaello “Tractor” Oliveira in vs. Gleison Tibau.

This card is another cursed UFC event. Training injuries are plaguing the sport.

Re: UFC 130: Jackson vs. Hamill (May 28th)

The UFC & Spike are stuck on the idea of Mike Bisping coaching TUF 14 and will let Brian Stann go against him if he beats Jorge Santiago... so let's go Santiago.

Really, another All-American Hero vs. Shitdick Brit edition of TUF? No thanks, Frendo.

Meltzer is reporting that under 5,000 tickets have been sold to this event. If you are in Vegas you might want to swing by the MGM on Saturday and see if you can pick up a ticket on the cheap.

Wasn't the worst show ever but I'm glad I only paid $5 to get into a bar to watch it.

Stann vs. Santiago was surprising. Sandman has been punchy for years but I didn't think Stann had the technicality to put him out. Wrong. Stann is developing into a good middleweight. I wonder what the next season of TUF might've been like with Jason Miller and Brian Stann coaching. No star power, granted, but two polar opposite personalities and backgrounds... guess I just don't like Bisping, lol.

The formula for beating Thiago Alves is out. Matt Hughes tried but didn't have the speed and strength. GSP, Fitch, and now Story were successful. Seems like Alves needs to stop working on his pectorals and get some wrestling training in if he ever wants to get back into the title picture. Story is pretty good and has a strong chin but I don't see a contender in him yet.

Speaking of punchy, Stefan Struve keeps his chin up and occasionally gets knocked out. He's been KO'd three times in eight fights which isn't terrible but if you look at the guys he's beaten and the guy's he's lost to you start to wonder if he's going to amount to more than a can crusher. Browne is a good puncher but at 29 years old already I don't see much room for improvement. Seems destined to be another middle of the road heavyweight of which there seems to be an abundance.

Mir/Nelson was pretty one-sided. Everyone is giving Nelson shit for gassing out (again) but he's fighting some serious heavyweights. He's lost four of six discounting TUF but you're talking Mir, JDS, and Arlovski/Monson (both fights were sketchy to say the least). Not exactly an easy road. Yeah, he needs to get himself into real shape but no, he won't. He's 34 and content. As for Mir I really don't care to see him fight but you have to admit he is in the top ten for heavyweights.

The main event was a plodding one. Jackson fractured his hand (pending x-rays) and Hamill's shot was appallingly bad, making for a bit of a sparring match. Reminded me a bit of Hamill's fight with Rich Franklin where it was apparent he was outclassed from the early moments of the fight and then avoided committing to his offense or taking any risks. Jackson on the other hand is a slow starter who needs a few rounds to get going and maybe made a case tonight for five-round main events. I think he would've finished the fight had that been the case, much in the same way Machida would've finished Jackson a few months back.

Can't say much more about the event. The fights were just ok and there weren't really any serious implications for them. Demetrious Johnson and Rampage Jackson are both probably one fight away from a title shot. That's about it.

Jackson's lined himself up for a title shot, IMO. JJ needs an opponent. I bet my account its gonna be Rampage.

Dana says Rampage is next for JJ. Rampage says he may have broken his hand in the fight so they may both have hand issues to get over before they can train 100% again.

Wonder what is next for Mir. In an awkward spot where hes not in the title picture but hes also far from a bottom feeder in the HW division. You know Dana would love a Mir-Brock III even though the fans don't want it but Brock just had surgery and isn't expected back until early 2012. Mir vs. winner of Schaub/Nog? It'd be nice to get some of those Strikeforce heavyweights over to the UFC soon...

You gotta get on that Roy. I know he lost two fights in a row now but the guy does draw fans and fights top level competition.
