Some great fights tonight. Beltran/Rosa was a banger, Poirier/Young was fast paced and technical, Stout's knockout was amazing, and the main card had a lot of drama. Good showing.

Shane Carwin looked like he was wearing a $2, bloody Shane Carwin mask after the fight.

DFW will pay Omigawa his win purse because he disagrees with the judges decision.

Excited to see my two favorite heavyweights fight later this year. Cain should wrestle his way to a victory but who knows what will happen. JDS has a damn impressive pedigree having beaten Carwin, Roy Nelson, Werdum, Gonzaga, Struve, Crocop.

Feels like they're going to need to fold the Strikeforce roster into the UFC at some point soon. HW division could use some fresh matchups and SF has quality fighters in that weight class. Same for LHW. And for christ's sake get Melendez into the UFC, SF/DREAM has nothing to offer him.

Oh and Carwin's showing wasn't all bad. Still nothing special as far as conditioning but he did last all 3 rounds. Actually looked pretty good throwing with JDS early but Dos Santos found the range in the last minute and a half or so and that flurry to finish the first rd pretty much decided the fight. He tagged JDS a few times but Dos Santos wasn't rocked that hard by them. Wonder if its a loss of power from dropping weight/getting off roids or if he just never made a flush connection. In previous fights hes dropped guys with lesser punches though (from what I can tell from watching on TV/computer).

Interesting that it looked like the HW division was going the way of massive 300 lb. freaks running the show with Lesnar/Carwin at the top and 6 months later you've got a 245 lb. champ and a 239 lb. challenger. And since then Carwin and Lesnar have both gotten smaller to the point where they barely cut weight (if at all) to make 265.

Carwin-Roy Nelson would still be a good fight. Or if you fold the SF guys in then Carwin-Bigfoot would also be interesting. One day Carwin-Cain could be solid too but I imagine Cain wrecks him pretty good.

How about a JDS-Alistair fight down the road? :smiley-drool: Mir needs someone to fight too. Dana's gotta cancel that cluster fuck of a HW Tourney and get some of those heavy's into the UFC pronto.

Does anyone else really want to see a Sam Stout vs Donald Cerrone fight?

I think Cain vs JDS might be the most anticipated heavyweight battle among mma fans in quite a while. Both guys are seemingly well rounded fighters, with crisp clean fighting styles, it should be a hoot.

I'm worried that Florian is gonna taste those Aldo hands and leg kicks, and opt to keep the fight against the fence like he did against Penn. Florian is an energetic fighter when he's winning, but outside of the Sherk fight, I've never seen him try too hard when he's losing the fight.
