Anthony Pettis "flapping in the wind" at the moment, unsure what to do with him next. Swanson nonplussed at the mention of Pettis.
Matt Serra says Weidman will hold the belt longer than Silva did. Silva shows up at the presser on queue in a suit and yellow Nike cap, LOL Doesn't at all look like a guy who was just kayoed.
I just can't shake the feeling that Silva doesn't really give a damn. He's already proven himself in the MMA world. Is he over fighting? Is he trying to stick it to Dana?
Re-watched the fight this morning, and that suspicious feeling I had about it is gone. In that first round, Anderson came out ready to fight and got taken down right away. On the ground he had to fend off at least 3 submissions and ate some pretty heavy GnP shots. When he got back up on his feet is when he started his mind games. I think its pretty obvious at this point Silva didn't want the fight returning to the ground. Right before the start of the 2nd round, Silva said something to Weidman and it looked like "let's stand up" and he continued his antics. I think he didn't want to go back to the ground with Weidman and tried getting inside his head. Silva fought how he always fights. I just think he predicted Weidman's combos wrong. The way he moved, it looked like he was expecting Wediman to throw a L-R-L-R combo, Weidman went L-R-R-L. I'd love to see a rematch.
Exactly my thoughts too. Silva always plays those games to try and get guys to over reach with punches and then he can devastate them with his powerful counter punching. It is a comical rope a dope for the most part, he is just trying to get into a guys head and make the guy angry enough to make a mistake. It does make him look arrogant and like he has no respect for his opponent but as long as he kept winning no one could say shit. He got caught playing that game a bit too much, it wasn't even a real good punch but his head was at such a weird angle when he got hit that he got his bell rung.
Yah I think Silva knew he was going to be in for a long night and possibly KO'd of Weidman was able to get him down at will. Even after the first round Silva kissed Weidman and then turnedand started trash talking him. His corner was telling him to calm down. He wanted Weidman to get sloppy and fight angry, but he kept his poise. Silva paid for it this time.
