    Re: UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks (Nov/16)

When pressed on the issue today GSP admitted that dropping down to lightweight would be more likely than moving up to middleweight. He considers himself a "medium sized welterweight" which is true given the rise of fighters like Thatch and Lim Hyun-Gyu who are giants in that division.

In recent days he has played down the idea of retirement. I think the "passing the torch" idea is ridiculous. He can't pass anything. The only thing he can do is get out of the way by relinquishing the belt. MacDonald still needs to earn the title and he hasn't and won't have beaten a top-5 welterweight on Saturday regardless. If the title was vacant a rematch between MacDonald and Condit would make a ton of sense.

Also, Johny Hendricks lied about WADA again (or is still wilfully ignorant). He said that "WADA is way stricter! I wanted to do WADA!" or something to that effect. WADA doesn't test, it establishes testing protocols and approves labs. VADA carries out WADA-approved tests. GSP rolled his eyes and put his hand over his mouth when Hendricks started blathering but had the class not to call him out.

    Re: UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks (Nov/16)

Johny Hendricks sticks to his guns when it comes to WADA administering tests and being strict. GSP calmly explains that Hendricks is an idiot but he can't get his point past Hendricks and his exhausted rambling. I'll be glad when this is over with tomorrow or early Sunday morning.

Tickets to tonight's event cost, on average, $580, according to Seat Geek, making 167 the most expensive event in about four years (since they started counting). Scalpers are getting double what they got for last month's heavyweight showdown in Houston (166).

Is it crazy that I had GSP winning 1, 3, and 5? Everyone's so upset.

I think GSP has a concussion. I have no idea what he was trying to announce at the end of the fight.

I can't even get onto the UG right now, I'm sure it's temper tantrum central over there.

Tim Elliott fights Ali Bagautinov with his face, Rory MacDonald decides that punching and kicking aren't requirements for a fight and loses, Chael Sonnen taps to strikes (!!!), and GSP & Hendricks put on a title fight to rival Jones/Gustafsson. Holy shit.

That was sad as hell to watch, weak, beaten to a loss of memory, and trying to hang up the gloves.

    Re: UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks (Nov/16)

It's split. I'm surprised. Everyone scored the fight different. To me, rounds two and four are Hendrick's strongest, but he gassed after round two and except for a slip by GSP he didn't get much off in those rounds. I dunno.

The judges saw it the way I saw it -- rounds 1, 3, and 5 for the champion.

It has been a holy shit type of night in terms of fights... Like WTF was MacDonald's gameplan? Looked like an amateur out there.
