    Karen Bryant is hearing rumblings that Pettis asked for too much money and is not a go anymore. Apparently Paul Felder made weight and will be getting the fight now.

    Nevermind, Paul Felder says the state athletic commission said no to Felder because he is not ranked. So who knows.

    Iaquinta could fight Khabib but it won't be for the title. He didn't weigh in at championship weight and the two hour extension has elapsed so he can only fight in a three-rounder.

    Pettis and Felder are out.

    I'm shocked they are even trying to keep Khabib on this card.

    For the record Iaquinta vs. Khabib makes more sense than Khabib vs. Max but won't be any more competitive, I reckon.

    Recap of this insanity (just the main event):

    For the fourth time, Khabib vs. Tony falls through as Tony has a knee injury a week prior to the fight
    Max is recruited to take the fight, title still on the line
    Khabib makes weight but Max does not
    Max drops out after he is not medically cleared to continue cutting weight
    Pettis' opponent Chiesa is injured in a fracas so Pettis does not weigh-in
    Pettis is recruited to replace Max but he asks for a bump and the UFC says no way
    Felder is recruited because he made weight but the commission disqualifies him since he is unranked
    The UFC goes back to Pettis but the commission disqualifies him since he stopped cutting weight and they deem it medically dangerous for him to resume for a five-round fight
    Iaquinta is recruited but he missed championship weight and the time allowance has elapsed so he can only compete in a three round fight
    The UFC is currently considering offering a non-title fight to Pettis or Iaquinta

    And that excludes almost all of the peripheral drama with Conor, Atem, Ray Borg, Rose, and Team Khabib.

    Fuckin' hell...

    How do you explain this to a new fan?

    So McGregor was the FW champion but he wanted two titles so the UFC let him fight the LW champion Eddie Alvarez in 2016. He won but then he didn't return since he wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather which he did. The UFC co-promoted it even though it meant holding up two divisions. Then the UFC stripped McGregor of his FW title because he didn't defend it. So then Holloway and Aldo fought for it and Holloway won. Then Holloway was supposed to fight Frank Edgar but he dropped out so he fought Aldo again and beat him again. Meanwhile with McGregor not defending the LW belt either they decided to make an interim belt. Ferguson won it and then was scheduled to fight Nurmagomedov but that got cancelled for the fourth time. The fight would've been for the real title but they never officially stripped McGregor who isn't injured or busy or anything he just isn't interested in fighting right now. So Nurmagomedov was then going to fight Holloway but it was on short notice and he couldn't make weight. Some other guys were brought up to fight him but those fights all fell through. Those fights would've been for the full title but not the interim title which Ferguson still has and the UFC still hasn't stripped McGregor so there'd kind of be three belts? Nurmagomedov won't fight during Ramadan so if they don't sort this out now he probably can't fight again until August, Ferguson is out for a while with a knee injury and McGregor is being charged with a felony assault.

    Definitely the craziest week in UFC history. There is still more than 24 hours until the fight card starts so a lot more time for something else to go wrong. Maybe JJ decides the weight cut wasn't that good? Rose too terrified to fight?

    Sounds like Khabib vs. Ragin' Al in a five-round title fight is likely to be the new main event.

    Does that mean Pettis will fight Felder?

    Now he isn't. It's only a title fight for Khabib.

    Tough luck for Al. Missed weight by .2-lbs. If he had've known he needed to make 155 I'm sure he would've. Shit, his trunks might've been .2-lbs.
