Re: UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine Notes on the event: -- Quinton Jackson will earn a light heavyweight title shot with a victory over Keith Jardine. Jackson is coming off a first round knockout win over arch rival Wanderlei Silva at UFC 92, while Keith Jardine is fresh off a split decision win over Brandon Vera at UFC 89. Both fighters have beaten Chuck Liddell and lost to Wanderlei Silva. The difference between them is that Jardine defeated Forrest Griffin by knockout and Jackson lost to Griffin by unanimous decision. If Jardine wins the fight, he will not get a title shot--it will go to Lyoto Machida instead. Rashad Evans is likely to defend his belt against either opponent at UFC 100 in July. -- Heavyweight Shane Carwin has been steamrolling through competition in his young MMA career but he hasn't yet faced a ranked fighter. Gabriel Gonzaga represents a massive leap up in competition for the 34-year old wrestler from Denver. Gonzaga is an eight fight UFC veteran with two straight wins. In their 23 fights combined neither Carwin nor Gonzaga have ever gone to a decision. -- The lightweight tilt between Gray Maynard and Jim Miller could produce the next contender in that weight class. Both fighters are oversized wrestlers. Miller has one blemish on his record--a unanimous decision loss to UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar--a fighter Maynard easily handled last spring.

I am interested in seeing how Brandon Vera will do. This guy was so good when he first came out and he really lost something when he lost do Verdum.
I'm pretty excited for this card... Rampage is fun to watch, and Gonzaga, Matt Brown, and Matt Hamill are 3 of my favorite fighters in the UFC right now.
If Rampage has done his homework he'll come out guns ablazing and try and overwhelm Jardine. I'm dying to see if Carwin is for real or not. Gonzaga can take a punch and he can slap on a sub pretty quick. I'm really liking Jim Miller, but I think he's going to fall victim to the Gray blanket.
