    Anderson is just so much better.

    2 rounds to 1.

    Leites is just dropping to the ground now hoping that Silva follows him. He should have a point taken away for that.

    Leites had NO RIGHT being in that fight. Wow...

    He got his ass handed to him in all regards. Silva will probably go spar 2 rounds right now.

    Silva is so fucking good, nobody will fight with him. Throw Hendo @ him again. This is a joke.

    Thoughts on the event:

    -- If you've never been to Montreal, make an effort to visit the city sometime. Living between Montreal and Toronto has afforded me the opportunity to spend significant time in Canada's two biggest cities, and they are very different places. Montreal is fantastic and I think most fans that made the trip to see the UFC this weekend would've come away with a positive impression of the city, especially those who hadn't been there before.

    -- UFC fans took over the city this weekend. Everywhere we went we were surrounded by twenty-something men wearing official fight clothing from UFC, Sinister, TapouT, Affliction, Silver Star, and others. Our hotel, the restaurants we ate at, the streets, the Eaton Centre--everywhere. Mostly English speaking. There is no doubt in my mind that a UFC event in Toronto would go over huge.

    -- The Bell Centre opened the doors around 6:10. Our hotel was a half-hour walk from the arena and we got there just as they started letting everyone in. This made for a LONG night. We were in our seats at about 6:30 and the first fight started at 7:40. The last fight ended at 1:00. Seeing a card with twelve fights seems like a great thing until you're cheering for three, four, five hours solid. With the pounding music, constant spotlights shining into our eyes, and the occasional screaming fool nearby, by the end of the night we were exhausted. A very long event is better for the PPV viewer than the live viewer when many of the fights go to decision.

    -- Just before the main event a fight broke out in the stands behind us. Within a few minutes twenty security guards stormed up into the seats and people scrambled to get out of the way. Beer flew into the air and splashed onto my buddy. An overweight, 35-ish man with a torn shirt stumbled out of the fray looking like he'd been unconscious moments earlier. Then after a while a fiery young man was roughly escorted out of the stands by several guards. After that things settled down a bit, but as a result we couldn't pay full attention to the first couple of minutes of the Iceman/Shogun fight.

    -- No surprise for me that the event was a sellout and the highest attended UFC event in history. The crowd was almost complete by the first or second preliminary fight. Everyone was there to enjoy the whole event. When I saw the UFC in Vegas, half the seats were empty until at least the last preliminary fight. Though I suppose there are more ways to kill time in Vegas, and more ways to get behind schedule...

    I don't think so. I thought I read UFC gave out $75,000 at one of their events?

    EDIT: Yeah, @ UFC 83 they gave out $75,000

    Thoughts on the fights:

    -- Marshall/Magalhaes - boring; both fighters were afraid of making mistakes; the crowd got on them fast but cheered most any action they sporadically provided; decision could've gone either way but Marshall had more activity;
    -- Grant/Chonan - stalemate; this fight could've been a draw; I thought Chonan negated all of Grant's offense, but couldn't mount much of his own; Chonan reversed everything Grant attempted; not a compelling argument for Grant's future in that division;
    -- Bocek/Bielkheden - shows how big Bocek is when "The Lion" drops down from welterweight and is still smaller; Bocek's top control is smothering; Bocek is probably going to be a Jason MacDonald-type fighter, good on the ground, medicore everywhere else; Bielkheden is probably done in the UFC for now;
    -- Herman/Loiseau - "The Crow" had the crowd behind him for at least the first two or four minutes, but then they turned; cries of "fight back!" from the crowd; horrible performance for Loiseau, who was looking for the home run and attempted (it seemed like) zero elbows; Herman did everything right but probably didn't win any fans in the affair; Loiseau kept slipping but he was the only fighter who had that problem; frustrating performance;
    -- Quarry/MacDonald - MacDonald has only one dimension; fight reminded me of MacDonald/Gouveia; Quarry is a solid fighter but too old to be anything more than a card-filler; MacDonald hasn't improved at all since coming to the UFC and despite having just signed a contract extension, will probably be fighting dark matches for a while; Canadian crowd was good to Quarry;
    -- Kang/
    Fouka-Pokum - didn't seem like Fouka-Pokum would be able to fight a third round; he was totally exuausted and collapsed after the fight; Kang fought a safe fight against a talented but wild striker; Kang hasn't made a mark in the UFC yet and doesn't look great at middleweight; I want to see him drop down; Fouka-Pokum reminded me of Melvin Manhoef, but with all his faults and less power;
    -- Cane/Cantwell - could've gone either way; I like Cane but Cantwell showed tremendous toughness and more technical striking in the bout; I expected some ground work but like Marshall/Magalhaes, it wasn't happening; Cane's run towards the top of the division is slowed a little now; Cantwell is a young fighter with a lot of potential but his attitude stinks;
    -- Kongo/Hardonk - predictable fight; Hardonk fearlessly engaged Kongo but the take down was inevitable; once on the ground, Hardonk was like a turtle on his shell; Kongo did everything he was supposed to and won the fight without too much trouble; Kongo will probably face Carwin next, in my estimation; Hardonk is destined to be a journeyman in this division;
    --
    Soszynski/Stann - I knew K-Sos would win by Kimura; Stann is another one-dimensional fighter; I don't know what more Soszyski can do in the division, though; his striking his good, his top control is good, but otherwise he is just average;
    -- Shogun/Iceman - like I said before we were a bit distracted and missed the first to minutes of the fight, or at least weren't able to give it our full attention; I'll rewatch it; seemed to be some good back and forth until the knockout; the crowd gave it up for Chuck before, during, and after; exciting fight; Liddell should retire because, like Wanderlei, he's just asking for brain damage;
    -- Spider/Leites - terrible fight; seemed like Silva could end it any time but was determined to go the distance; Leites didn't seem very effective off his back so I don't know why Silva refused to go to the mat with him; safe fight for Silva, completely ineffective one for Leites; the crowd wasn't happy with the fight and despite Joe Rogan's protests, it wasn't what people were hoping for (Dana White included); is Silva bored with fighting?

    Oh. White said at the Post Press Conference that these were the biggest ever. He (and I) must've forgotten.
