The thing with Kongo is I don't think he likes taking punches, so he panics and tries to clinch. He actually tried to take and keep Velasquez down a few times and almost instantly got swept and put on his back. He did the same thing with Herring. At his age I don't think his style is going to change so he is more or less going to be hovering just outside the top ten forever. It might be to his benefit to ride out his UFC contract and then try to get some bucks elsewhere because his potential to move into the title picture is remote.

I doubt anyone does, but he actually ate a lot of hard punches. Cain got tired from wailing on him. I'm impressed with his resilience, I'm sure other fighters would have tapped or just let Cain get the RNC.

and by the time Kongo tried to go for takedowns he had already eaten a round and a half of punches from a fresh Cain. The gnp wore him down some. Although Kongo had no chance with the takedowns and the only good thing about them was that they somewhat delayed Cain, he had a nice clinch late in the fight, landing several solid knees to Cain's core.

while Kongo's takedown D sucks, he did somewhat well on the ground. He didn't give up the sub, he took shots but he did manage to get back up several times, whereas 2 yrs ago he would have never got back up.

still he's gone from turtle to punching bag on the floor and he's another not well rounder HW. Feed him some standup guys and he looks like a contender. Put him up vs a competent ground fights and he's toast.

Does anyone think Davis got screwed with the Split Decision? I think he got more takedowns and tried more subs. It was a wash in the standup or Hardy had a slight edge becuase he caught Davis twice but couldn't capitalize on it.

I think Davis won the first round and lost the second and third.

He also showed a lot of reluctance to stand and exchange with Hardy, which was surprising.

It never sounded like he wanted to win the fight by foot lock but that's what he tried.

I shouldn't have said screwed, because the fight could have gone either way, but the did get a lot more takedowns and normally that means a lot in the scoring.
I guess the knockdown in the 2nd and the cut opened in the 3rd swung close rounds Hardy's way.

that was the only fight I picked incorrectly too dangit.

I thought Davis should have won. Hardy got dominated most of the fight, spare for 2 or 3 shots that hit Davis.
