Day 128. The Russian Federation troops retreat from Zmiiny Island due to the Ukrainian army’s successful artillery operation, calling the move a “goodwill gesture.” Russian troops take partial control of the Lysychansk oil refinery. More HIMARS arrive from the western allies. The US will allocate $800 million worth of HIMARS, air defense systems. Lukashenka makes a nuclear “announcement.” The US and its allies refuse to provide Russian ships with insurance for the transportation of hydrocarbons. Ukraine breaks diplomatic relations with Syria and imposes economic sanctions in response to the recognition of the “independence” of the so-called “L/DPR.” (not sure why they didn't mention in the last two days all the russian missile strikes on civilian targets. I think about 50 dead, many, many owunded)

Day 129: Russian missile strikes near Odesa kill 21, and injure close to 40. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated 1027 municipalities, says the Office of the President of Ukraine. Russian troops continued the offensive to the north and west of Lysychansk. The Ukrainian army pushed the Russians from their position in the area of the Kherson airport (located in Chornobayivka). Norway and the United Kingdom donate long-range rocket artillery to Ukraine. Medvedev says Western sanctions against Russia may be grounds for war.

Day 130. The Ukrainian army destroys warehouses, equipment depots and fortifications of the Russian army. Russian forces entered Lysychansk and advanced within the city. Russian forces continued unsuccessful ground assaults north of Sloviansk. The Ukrainian army destroyed the remnants of the Russian military equipment at Zmiiny Island. Ukrainian aviation struck a Russian stronghold in the Mykolaiv Oblast, destroying military equipment.

Zelensky, tonight: “The Russian economy [has] found itself in the biggest crisis in the last 50 years. The world severs ties with Russia. The words “collapse”, “deficit” and “poverty” will be the description of Russian life as long as this state wants to be a terrorist state.”
“They lost more than 35,000 soldiers, and this is a conservative estimate. What is all this for? For the sake of insane propagandists to be able to show a Russian or Soviet flag on the ruins somewhere in their broadcasts... There is simply no other answer.

Why did USA continue in Viet Nam? I think the leader's ego gets involved, the deeper they get in the more they want to somehow come out on top.

Sad thing is little people in Russia suffer economic collapse. Oligarchs will still be rich.

A lady who my wife and I have known for over 20 years here retired after 32 years working with the DOJ and is taking her teen daughter and leaving for Portugal to enjoy retirement and boycott the Supreme Court travesty recently...she has two beautiful homes on 40 acre and she's using her home to provide housing for Ukrainian War Refugee families....I hope to meet them one day. Mad respect to her for providing the opportunity....this war is going to drag on longer than it should. Glad to see NATO welcome new members today...that'll help with the efforts.

Taiwanese special forces vets and others with less experience are joining or have joined the Ukranian forces stating that they cannot sit and cry for the world to help them if they too are not willing to help Ukraine in it's time of need....some very skilled sodiers from Taiwan are walking the walk..they also say this experience will utimately make them even more prepared for a Chinese invasion when they get home....mad respect!

Because they are running out of people young enough to defend their country. Most anybody young and smart has fled. The only people remaining who have an education or trade skill are in their 50s.

They have to take Ukraine and most of the ex Soviet countries while they still have some semblance of a fighting force so they control all of the navigable passes into Russia, as well as to gain control of enough young people to maintain their population beyond a decade or so.

They have no choice but to continue until their current government collapses. Then it'll just be a mess. At best.

Day 131. "Ukrainian army withdraws from Lysychansk. Russian forces launched assaults northeast of Bakhmut and north of Sloviansk. Ukrainian forces destroy the Russian military base in Melitopol. With harvest underway, Russia’s invasion continues to have a devastating impact on Ukraine’s agricultural sector. Russian ship carrying Ukrainian grain detained by Turkey. Lukashenko accused Ukraine of shelling Belarus and ordered to “put” opponents’ capitals “at gunpoint.” Moscow blames the Ukrainian missile attack for deaths in the south Russian city."
My added note: russia making a big deal that they now control all of Luhansk province but their advance in the east since they retreated from Kyiv, has only been about 50 km, while Ukraine is advancing in three other areas. https://euromaidanpress.com/2022/07...b_-wCzH29xlC_LeTStpu0UD_f9hE5C8sCexmiADtGLlIQ[IMG]

"Day 132. The Russian army seized the remaining territory between Lysychansk and Luhansk Oblast’s administrative borders. Russia fired 7 missiles at the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, six shot down by Ukrainian air defense. Russians continue assaults northeast of Bakhmut and north of Sloviansk. The Ukrainian army continues to strike the Russian warehouses and personnel (probably with USA rocket systems), in particular in the Kherson region. The EU is preparing the seventh package of sanctions against Russia by the end of July. The EU plans to create a special platform for the restoration of Ukraine after the end of the war. Putin did not congratulate Biden and the Americans on Independence Day."

Russian army continued offensive operations northwest and east of Sloviansk and try to advance toward Siversk [this is in the central east, not far from Severodonetsk, which the russians took last week]. The Ukrainian army conducted a limited counterattack southwest of Donetsk. Residents of Russian-occupied Mariupol are dying from a lack of medicines. Ukraine to receive self-propelled artillery systems, and loitering munitions from Britain. War will end when Ukraine reaches its 1991 borders, as per the Head of Ukrainian Intelligence.

I think this might be a possibility in terms of the actual invasion but i highly doubt this war between Russians and Ukrainians will end any time soon. Taking land is one thing. Holding it is a totally different thing.

That's why Ukraine wants the West to commit to a total military and economic defeat of russia; so they will never think of invading again.
