Day 315. Over the month of December Ukrainian army liberated approximately 70 square km of Ukraine. Warm weather in Ukraine (and in Europe) is easing demand on the country’s electricity grid. Russia destroys an ice arena in Donetsk Oblast.
Day 316. All islands in Kherson Oblast are in the grey area. Ukrainian soldiers repel assault, capture enemy’s positions, and explode two ammunition warehouses in the Bakhmut area. Patriot will start defending Ukraine “as soon as possible. I'm gonna include the casualty tally again today. Some say Ukraine exaggerates them but no one has proved that. I know I have seen a lot of photos with bodies strewn everywhere. And there was one study showing a close correlation with russian payments to relatives of dead soldiers. They have been losing an average over 700 a DAY for the last ten days. As I have said before you can compare that to USA figures from VietNam of around 500 a MONTH. russian soldiers are still complaing about lack of basic necessities like food and water.
The only real verification was a study of leaked russian documents earlier showing how much russia was paying out to families of dead soldiers. Simply dividing the entire sum by the figure set for each solider gave a number only a little bit smaller than Ukrainian estimates, and considering the lag in payments made Ukrainian estimates look very accurate. As you can imagine russians have kept very close control of those figures since then. US estimates are about half of Ukraine's but I don't think they have any real basis for their estimates. Some Ukrainians claim their estimates are very conservative. I know that they have hundreds of photos and videos from drones showing the dead.
The battle ljnes are holding pretty steady from north to south. Ukraine believes russia is working on mobilizing another half million trroops. Ukraine feels like they themselves have enough mobilized already and focus on training and retraining. USA is sending another huge shipment of arms, most noteworthy more 155 mm howitzers and ammo and 50 Bradley fighting vehicles. A USA senator has visited and checked out Ukraine's physical and digital auditing of equipment they are receiving and feels like it's all getting to where it's supposed to go. Ukraine may finally be getting some Leopard tanks from various European countries, which are more heavily armored and have more firepower than their own tanks. Apparently it required permission by Germany to allow these transfers, which Poland has been ready to do for months. Germany kept saying that they didn't want to be the first to provide tanks while at the same time preventing anyone else from doing it.
Day 320. Fierce fighting near Bakhmut and Soledar. Russia’s war against Ukraine causes the largest refugee crisis since World War II. Russia has created the world’s largest minefield in Ukraine
https://crooksandliars.com/2023/01/ukraine-deploys-guard-cat Ukraine has a guard cat! Now I know they will win.
Republican chair of House Oversight Committee called Ukraine an adversary. Because they defied Trump.
Key developments on Jan. 11: Zelensky denies Russia captured Soledar, says fighting ‘ongoing’ and front line ‘holding ’Moscow says Soledar blocked from north and south; Wagner Group founder boasts capturing the town Poland to deliver Leopard tanks to Ukraine; Lithuania vows to send more air defense systems, Britain to send tanks Russia’s Defense Ministry replaces military commander after 3 months The small salt-mining town of Soledar is “almost completely destroyed,” but the fighting continues, and the eastern front line is “holding,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Jan. 11. In his evening address, Zelensky claimed that Russia was lying about its victory over the town in Donetsk Oblast, hoping that presenting some results – even a minor one – would increase the public’s support for mobilization.
Bakhmut is a city in central east Ukraine that the russians have been trying to take for months. While they were focused there, Ukraine pushed them out of Kherson and out of Kharkiv region. Now russians have sent evn more troops to the Bakhmut/Soledar front and have made some small advances. Here is the daily video report from Bakhmut's Ukrainian defenders. (Before anyone gets offended by him calling the feemale soldier "witch" you should know this is her self-chosen nom de guerre.)
Another massive missile attack by russia on cities all over Ukraine, hitting residentail buildings and infrastructure. About ten dead so far confirmed, dozens wounded. Still conflicting reports abut whether russians have actually taken Soledar, which is really a village on top of salit mines, but russians are trying to make a big deal out of it because they have so little to celebrate lately.
It's in It's incredible to me that every russian official, every russina businessperson, even every russian citizen has not yet been sanctioned. That they are still allowed to participate in sporting events and such things as Ms Universe. Were Germans allowed this during WW II? @RobertPszczel #Russia is committing a severe war crime every day. The civilized world has been showing too much restraint in response to this barbarism. A minimum - Russia must be rejected from every international organization, sporting/cultural event. It is a pariah state and has to feel it.
Great interview with General Ben. He really advocates for Ukraine and thinks getting longer range rockets is crucial. https://www.rferl.org/a/general-ben...e/32223436.html#0_8_10089_8766_2710_245644052
Day 328. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the Russo-Ukrainian War is in a “decisive phase.” Ukrainian units defend positions in Soledar (just morth of Bakmut) and its outskirts. Russian forces made additional territorial gains north of Bakhmut and may be intensifying attacks south of Bakhmut near Klishchiivka.
Day 332. European Parliament pushes for special tribunal to punish Russian crimes in Ukraine. European countries to supply more weapons to Ukraine. President of the European Council Charles Michel said tanks “must be delivered” to Ukraine and “No free Europe without free Ukraine.” russians losing about 800 soldiers a day over the last five days. Germany has the right to withold permission for countries to send much needed Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Switzerland also refusing to allow countries to sned ammo that Switzerland previously sold.
Great interview with General Ben. Talks about past USA policy failures and why we need to hlep Ukraine now. Emphasizes that Ukraine needs long range rockets to deny russians sanctuary and to isolate Crimea. https://www.kyivpost.com/videos/113...=email&utm_term=0_-501555952a-[LIST_EMAIL_ID]
Shocking in that in 2014 nobody thought Russia would invade another European country. Now look at where we are at. We are at war.
Day 332. Heavy fighting around Bakhmut continues; Russian sources continued to falsely claim that Russian forces are close to encircling Bakhmut. US Defence Secretary: Russia suffers significant battle losses and is running out of ammunition. Occupiers deported over 2 million Ukrainians, passporting them forcefully.
