Highly talented people rise to the top quickly. There's a lot to be said for 'working your way up', but elite talent can skip a few steps.
Also, it's not hard to standout when the majority of your peers suck ass. Maybe if his peers knew a thing or two about coaching Brad would blend in with those around him, rather than sticking out as exceptional.
