Giving all Amazon employees a $5 per hour raise would cost an additional $10 billion per year in wages.

I think Bernie's math is off on this one.

Bernie stated a fact. Amazon can afford to give it's employees a $5 per hour raise. You seem to be the one doing math.

America went from baby boomers having unions that allowed them to sit at the bargaining table when it came to their future. Amazon, and too many corporations have taken away workers rights to decide their future pay, life style, etc., by destroying unions in this country. Young Americans have less bargaining rights than their grandparents did at their same age. When boomers were young, they could get good paying union jobs, because many of the largest employers in America... were unionized. Nowadays most of the largest companies in America , don't have unions, and actively bust them by hiring union busting firms.

Americans should have a say about their futures. Corporations don't seem to see humans as worthy of a future, or a life for that matter.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. I was more ribbing him for the if/than statement.

They can afford it, but it has nothing to do with what they pay their CEO.

I wish he wouldn't do stuff like that, though. It opens him (and by extension, his cause) up to unnecessary criticism.

So what? Profit is just a euphemism for theft. They deserve those wages.

I don't disagree at all. Just pointing out that the math doesn't add up as Bernie suggested it would.

I wish he would stop doing that.

'All of Us Are Paying the Price' as Corporate Profits Surge to Record-High $2 Trillion

"Astronomical corporate profits confirm what corporate executives have been telling us on earning calls over and over again: They're making a lot of money by charging people more."

    https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...orporate-profits-surge-record-high-2-trillion

With all of the Americans we have right now that are struggling, or are homeless. Corporate profits are at an all time high. America shows that it is literally a... "for profit" over lives country.
