So our drummer tossed in the towel. Too large of a family that takes an obvious priority, so we are on the hunt for a new drummer. In the mean time, there are some great concerts going on. This Saturday I will be heading to The analog for the last show before they close down and go under new management. The main band playing is Love Lode. If anyone was in town in the mid to late 90's, early 00's, then you know this band. They have opened up for everyone under the sun and are considered to be the most technically talented band to come out of Portland by most musicians in town. If you dont know this band, but you know the band Smoochknob, the rhythm guitar player and backing vocalist for Smooch is the lead singer for Love Lode. This is a must see show as they hardly ever play anymore. SWIL was invited to play this show with them, but alas, no drummer..... Anyhow, if you want some great music, this Saturday at the Analog will have it. Hit me up if you want more details.
Yeah my boss went. He said Mastodon was too droning and most of the crowd left by the time Primus started. Then they played like four of their old songs and then Les Claypool started reciting a childrens book to the crowd. It was an odd show.
I guarantee the best drummer in the business is HomerLovesKoolAid. He's booked up pretty often though. He's damn good.
Love Lode has a nice sound and kind of reminds me of a less funky and more rock Dan Reed Network (at least the track I listened to)
Yep we have talked. Great guy. Saw him play in Salem once. He needs to get back on this board more!!! Yeah the only thing they really have is old video from the nineties. I think they pulled most stuff from online since they started getting back together. I’ve hung out at their rehearsal. The talent in the band is incredible.
A friend of mine was big in the 80's with his band and went by the name of Billy Rancher and the Unreal Gods. Billy was best friends with my cousin as that's how I met him and the bass player, David Stricker, grew up a few houses down the street from me as we shared the same birthday and year. Unfortunately Bill succumbed to cancer at a young age and never able to quite fulfil his dreams.
Negative. This was our first show with our new drummer. breaking him in, but didnt want to take a bigger show like that too soon. We have a few more coming up in Jan, Feb and March though. East Side Bar and Grill Twilite Cafe Future Bar. I will post them once the posters are made.
Say Red Fang at the wonderball room. Fucking rowdy and had a blast but what is it with kids these days? Lets climb on stage and do a diving crowd surf attempt into the middle of a big mosh pit. Over And over And over Ive never seen so many nose dives into the floor.... And oh yeah. ThunderPussy from Seattle killed it!!! Didnt make it in time to see Gaythiest but thier front man is hilarious as he came up during red fang and sang a somg with them.
