    Is Cung Le really good enough for the UFC? Seems like DFW and co. think more highly of him than I do giving him a shot against Vitor right off the bat.

    I wondered that at firsts too, but it may not be that they think he is that good, as much as they see him as questionable. Dana White, Joe Silva and the rest have always liked to give guys that are questionable tough matchups right away to prove themselves, like Brock getting Frank Mir right away, James Toney getting Randy Couture immediately. It may be that they are trying to get Cung Le out of the UFC quickly.

    I don't think the matchup against Vitor is that bad, mostly because Cung Le's standup has looked pretty good in a majority of his fights. He strikes from odd angles, and his kicks are pretty dangerous. The only problem I have seen from him, is that I think he has a bit of a suspect chin. If Scott Smith dropped him, Vitor may kill him if he lands flush.

    Agree that when I saw that I thought "is this another career non-UFC guy who Dana is trying to embarrass/prove isn't that good?" Like Toney and like he wanted to do with Fedor for years. Le can strike but the level of competition hes faced just isn't very impressive.

    He can strike but even with the 17-0 kickboxing record and 7-1 MMA record I can't see any result besides Vitor steamrolling him. Hes 39, rarely competes, went 1-1 with Scott Smith, seems like hes been crushing cans for the most part.

    Anderson Silva's shoulder injury will prevent him from fighting again this year but doesn't require surgery.

    Vitor is bigger, stronger, faster, younger, hits harder, and has better grappling and clinch skills. Seriously horrendous matchup for Le but bigger upsets have happened.

    The fight has been pushed back to the 20th and will take place at Moscow's Olympic stadium.

    I've changed my tune. I don't think it is a gimmie fight for Fedor. It might've been five years ago but not now.

    Barnett in talks to fight in Japan for Dream while waiting for the SF HWGP finals, with former UFC heavyweight Sean McCorkle as a rumoured opponent.

    FOX have decided that they want all the prelim fights to be on television, so starting in January the Facebook fights will be over and all the prelim fights for PPVs will likely be broadcast on FX or Fuel TV.

    Cooool.

    Hes been a gatekeeper for a while. Won 5 fights in a row after his loss to GSP and was ranked top 10 overall and was barely mentioned as a realistic possibility for another fight with GSP. Even if he beat BJ Penn it didn't really feel like that would earn him a title shot. I'm totally ok with it too. As a fan its hard to justify giving him another title shot after he lost a UD to GSP, hasn't ended a fight in over 4 years (10 fights ago), and hasn't really proven that he has anything new to offer GSP. There's something to be said for being great at winning but welterweight has no shortage of talent cycling through it and despite the wins Fitch hasn't given me any hope that another GSP fight would yield any different result.

    OSP vs. Mousasi for the next Strikeforce event. Bad match-up for Mousasi as OSP is at least as good a wrestler as Lawal.
