    Apparently Lesnar was in Miami discussing terms of a possible one-year deal with the WWE this weekend. Seems likely he'll return.

    Just because DFW isn't involved in Strikeforce anymore doesn't mean we're not going to get force-fed rubber matches we don't want!

    Gilbert Melendez will defend his lightweight strap against Josh Thompson at the upcoming Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier show.

    Additionally, Rafael Calvan will face Mike Kyle. That one should be good.

    A UN Conference in Rio at the same time as the scheduled UFC event means that the UFC will likely move their show a week up or back, depending on the availability of the stadium etc.

    Supposedly the UFC would like to see Alexander Gustafsson retire Rampage Jackson at the end of the year, a passing of the torch, setting up Gustafsson's first title shot.

    Fedor vs. Pedro Rizzo in June in what M-1 is calling "The Fight Nobody Wanted 2012", narrowly beating out Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin 3 and Frank Mir vs. Junior dos Santos.

    Supposedly there is some serious drama going on behind the scenes with the UFC, Chael Sonnen, and Anderson Silva.

    The UN are holding a conference in Rio in July at the same time as the UFC were planning to put on their show at Botafogo stadium. The UFC has backed out of that arrangement since hotel rooms, travel, and everything else would be a booking nightmare for incoming fans.

    The UFC want to put on Silva/Sonnen 2 in Las Vegas but apparently Silva will only take the fight in Brazil--and if the champ won't fight the top contender on the UFC's terms he could be in a position to be stripped of his title. Dunno if the UFC can use money to convince Silva to take the fight.

    Some talk that a Rashad Evans/Lyoto Machida rematch is possibly up next for those two fighters. Sounds good.

    Hendo/Jones could go down in Calgary.

    Still no opponent named for Jose Aldo at that show.

    UFC only interested in doing Silva/Sonnen 2 in a stadium in Brazil. Will find a way to get it done. Existing card may stay at that date but change locations. New card could be built around Silva/Sonnen if it is at a later date.

    UN actually cockblocked the UFC, going straight to the mayor to tell them that the UFC had to pull-out.

    I think Rashad will win too. He got really boxing-happy on his way to winning the LHW belt and Machida brought him back to earth. Hes fought much smarter since then and I think he's improved a lot. Machida has been figured out and although hes still really good he just doesn't have much else to offer the best guys at 205.

    Gotta wonder if either of these guys are thinking about moving to 185 soon as well. Rashad could still get some interesting fights against Shogun, Bader, Hendo, Gustafson but it seems ultimately pointless as long as Jones is still at 205. Machida has fought damn near everyone and always seems too small against the top 205ers.
